Position Overview
The Senior Vice President of Lending Operations is tasked with delivering strategic leadership and comprehensive management oversight for all lending activities, encompassing consumer and real estate lending, indirect lending, and loan services (collections). This role collaborates closely with the Chief Lending Officer to design and implement the credit union's lending initiatives in alignment with the organization's strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Chief Lending Officer in overseeing the efficient functioning of the lending department, which includes consumer lending, indirect lending, real estate lending, and loan services.
  • Engage in the formulation of long-term strategies while managing daily operations and projects within the lending department.
  • Direct all activities related to consumer, indirect, and real estate loans, including origination, processing, underwriting, closing/funding, and servicing.
  • Stay informed about evolving legislative and regulatory environments, ensuring that policies and procedures remain compliant with current laws.
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual departmental budget and negotiate modifications to existing contracts.
  • Research and propose new products and services, process enhancements, cost-saving measures, and revenue-generating ideas to bolster the credit union's profitability and member engagement.
  • Oversee the development, training, and motivation of department managers and staff, identifying opportunities for professional growth and engagement.
  • Manage the hiring, counseling, performance evaluation, training, and discipline of all department personnel.
  • Establish, monitor, and achieve production goals for indirect, consumer, and mortgage loans in support of the credit union's revenue objectives.
  • Evaluate the feasibility of new lending products and develop plans for the expansion of lending programs.
  • Ensure effective collaboration and resource coordination across teams to maintain strong internal service and support.
  • Develop and update underwriting criteria in line with the credit union's risk tolerance and monitor compliance to mitigate losses.
  • Analyze delinquent loans for potential modifications or charge-off recommendations, adhering to prudent lending and collections practices.
  • Prepare and analyze reports for senior management and the board of directors regarding collection activities.
  • Ensure that credit and collection policies serve the best interests of the credit union and its members.
  • Participate in Business Intelligence and Data Analytics initiatives to support organizational goals.
  • Comply with all relevant federal and state laws, as well as organizational policies and procedures.

Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Management, or a related field is required.
  • Experience: A minimum of five years in a management role is required, with a solid understanding of the credit union industry, consumer lending, indirect lending programs, real estate lending, and collections regulations.
  • Skills: Exceptional relationship-building and communication skills, with experience leading diverse teams. Strong written and verbal communication abilities, along with project management skills, are essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with Symitar Episys software is preferred.
  • Additional Attributes: A collaborative work style, inquisitive mindset, flexibility, creativity, and a commitment to excellence are highly valued.
  • Travel Requirements: Limited local travel may be necessary.
  • Work Schedule: Exempt position with a standard Monday through Friday schedule, typically from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with some flexibility required to meet business needs.
