Position Summary: As the inaugural Finance hire, the Strategic Finance Lead will play a pivotal role in establishing a robust Finance function that enables data-driven and financially prudent decision-making. This position involves crafting and implementing financial strategies aligned with Lightyear's growth ambitions, encompassing areas such as strategic planning, budgeting, and more. We seek a motivated and proactive individual with a solid background in finance and accounting, eager to advance a career in startup finance leadership. This role will report directly to the CEO and collaborate closely with leadership across GTM and Operations. There is significant potential for this position to evolve into a Director or VP of Finance role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement financial strategies to facilitate growth objectives, including strategic planning and budgeting.
  • Collaborate with the business to oversee headcount and expense forecasts, manage financial reporting, KPIs, presentations, and other critical analyses.
  • Develop internal executive reports, including financial and investor reporting, as well as management presentations.
  • Work alongside cross-functional teams to formulate strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing revenue growth, optimizing costs, and improving operational efficiency.
  • Coordinate with accounting teams to ensure GAAP compliance, manage month-end closing processes, conduct variance reviews, and deliver high-quality financial reports.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 2 years in investment banking or a related field, with additional experience in corporate or strategic finance preferred.
  • Strong grasp of accounting principles, financial modeling, and reporting.
  • Proven project management capabilities, adept at handling large data sets, critically analyzing processes, and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Proficient in Google Suite and MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), with advanced Excel modeling skills.
  • Enthusiasm for working in dynamic startup environments.
  • This role is fully remote.

Compensation: Competitive base salary commensurate with experience.
