Position Summary: As the inaugural Finance hire, the Strategic Finance Lead will play a pivotal role in establishing a robust Finance function that enables Lightyear to make informed and financially prudent decisions. This position involves developing and implementing financial strategies that align with Lightyear's growth ambitions, encompassing strategic and financial planning, budgeting, and beyond. We seek a motivated, self-driven professional with a solid foundation in finance and accounting, eager to advance a career in startup finance leadership. This role will report directly to the CEO and collaborate closely with leadership in GTM and Operations. There is considerable potential for this position to evolve into a Director or VP of Finance role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute financial strategies to bolster growth objectives, including strategic and financial planning, as well as budgeting.
  • Collaborate with the business to oversee headcount and expense forecasts, and manage weekly and monthly financial reporting, KPIs, presentations, and other critical analytical requests.
  • Develop internal executive reports, including financial and investor reporting, along with other management presentations.
  • Work alongside cross-functional teams to formulate strategic initiatives that enhance revenue growth, optimize costs, and improve operational efficiency.
  • Partner with accounting teams to ensure GAAP compliance, facilitate month-end closing, conduct variance reviews, and deliver high-quality financial reporting.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 2 years in investment banking or a related field, with additional experience in corporate or strategic finance preferred.
  • Strong grasp of accounting principles, financial modeling, and reporting.
  • Proven project management capabilities, adept at managing and analyzing large data sets, critically evaluating existing processes, and identifying opportunities for enhancement.
  • Proficient in Google Suite and MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); advanced Excel modeling skills are essential.
  • A strong desire to thrive in early-stage startup environments.
  • This role is fully remote.

Compensation: Base salary ranges from $120,000 to $150,000, contingent on experience.
