Overview:

ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT SPECIALIST:


UIC Alaska is seeking an Administrative Support Specialist who will be assigned to various Chief Counsel Offices or sub/satellite locations within the Counsel's operational area.

The Chief Counsel's office manages sensitive and high-level documentation and is part of the Department of Homeland Security.


This position is full-time and benefits-eligible, offering an hourly rate of $19.71, along with a Health and Welfare (H&W) rate based on local wage determinations.



Responsibilities:
The primary duties include maintaining and organizing files, conducting research, and drafting documents. The Administrative Support Specialist adheres to clearly defined procedures while performing repetitive tasks in a consistent sequence.

Responsibilities may encompass filing pre-coded documents in chronological order or operating office equipment such as mimeographs, photocopiers, addressographs, or mailing machines.


Additional clerical duties include:
- Managing mail, including both paper and electronic correspondence and packages

- Receiving, opening, date-stamping, sorting, and distributing incoming mail

- Interfiling correspondence within case files

- Responding to internal and external file requests

- Utilizing the RAILS automated file system for file location and transfers

- Researching, identifying, reviewing, and selecting relevant documents for production

- Complying with ICE and NARA (National Archives and Records Administration) document standardization policies and procedures

Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.

- A minimum of one (1) year of experience in an administrative office environment is required.

- Extensive knowledge of computers/PCs is required, including proficiency in spreadsheet software, word processing software, and the MS Office Suite.

- Candidates must successfully pass a federal background investigation and pre-employment drug screening.

* The federal background investigation includes, but is not limited to, citizenship status, residency information, work experience, education, credit history, criminal record check, and fingerprints.


Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds

- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods

- Ability to twist, bend, and squat periodically

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIRED:
- Must be able to obtain a security clearance at the DHS ICE T2 level.
