Position Summary:

Under general administrative guidance, this role is responsible for gathering, supporting, training, and advising users and application developers on the effective use and delivery of clinical and business applications, as well as third-party systems. The position coordinates and provides support for the evaluation, integration, and training related to the implementation and operational health informatics needs in an outpatient setting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage small to medium-sized projects or specific components of larger initiatives focused on patient access and financial services within the healthcare environment.
  • Conduct workflow analysis, planning, development, user support, documentation, and reporting to facilitate the implementation and execution of system applications.
  • Synthesize the outpatient area's requirements for the integration and modification of clinical and business applications.
  • Document specifications, perform fact-finding, analyze results, and propose solutions or recommendations.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of strategic initiatives to enhance employee competence in the use of software and systems utilized by both clinical and non-clinical staff throughout UMMS.
  • Ensure the quality of informatics training and support services delivered, coordinating with IS&T application training teams.
  • Contribute to the design and maintenance of systems that support multidisciplinary team functioning and continuity of services within UMMS Hospitals.
  • Collaborate with the University of Maryland School of Medicine and University Physicians to understand and manage shared processes.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing, Business, IT, Health Care Administration, or a related field; a Master's degree in a relevant discipline is preferred.
  • Clinical licensure in the State of Maryland or eligibility for licensure is required for applicable clinical roles.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in a patient care setting (preferably ambulatory) or equivalent experience in an Information Systems or Clinical Operations support role.
  • Preferred experience with electronic health record systems, registration, scheduling, and billing applications.
  • Informatics or Training Industry Certification is recommended.
  • Application credentialing is required within the first 90 days of employment.
  • Achieve and maintain applicable Epic or EHR application certification status within 24 months of hire (12 months if training is a principal part of the role).
