Position Overview

The Veterans Health Administration is seeking a dedicated full-time Physiatrist specializing in Integrative Pain Management and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) within the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) department.

Eligibility
  • This position is open to U.S. Citizens and Nationals.
Job Responsibilities

The selected Physiatrist will be responsible for:
  • Developing expertise in a recovery-oriented approach to chronic pain management, utilizing a biopsychosocial model that emphasizes whole-person care.
  • Diagnosing and treating patients with acute and chronic pain stemming from various conditions, including musculoskeletal disorders, stroke, spasticity, traumatic brain injury, and post-operative rehabilitation.
  • Implementing non-surgical treatment strategies, including non-narcotic medications and non-pharmacological therapies, while being proficient in performing office-based procedures such as joint injections.
  • Leading the Polytrauma/TBI clinic, managing a caseload of new patient consultations.
  • Providing backup support for the inpatient Rehabilitation Unit as needed.
  • Engaging in interdisciplinary collaboration to optimize patient care and enhance quality of life for Veterans.
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant legal and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

To qualify for this role, candidates must possess:
  • A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from an accredited institution.
  • A current, unrestricted medical license to practice in the United States.
  • Completion of residency training in an accredited specialty program.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
Preferred Qualifications

Board certification in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation with a focus on Pain Management and TBI is highly desirable.
