Position Overview:
The role is situated within the Integrative Pain Medicine and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) clinic of the Rehabilitation Service at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

Key Responsibilities:
The position demands advanced knowledge and skills in evaluating, diagnosing, and managing a range of chronic pain conditions and associated challenges. The primary duties include:

  • Independently overseeing a group of patients with both acute and chronic health issues, focusing on health enhancement and disease prevention through evidence-based methodologies.
  • Patients primarily present with chronic pain and some with traumatic brain injuries.
  • Creating and executing tailored plans aimed at achieving optimal health outcomes and effective disease management.
  • Ordering and interpreting laboratory tests, imaging, and diagnostic evaluations.
  • Prescribing both pharmacological (including opioids) and non-pharmacological treatment options, with an emphasis on holistic health strategies.
  • Initiating referrals and consultations to specialized services as necessary.
  • Providing education and support to patients and their families.
  • Regularly assessing and modifying care plans to ensure the best patient outcomes.

Work Schedule:
Standard hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. This position is not eligible for telework or virtual work arrangements.

Employment Conditions:

Qualifications:
Applicants must possess a Master's degree in any field or a Bachelor's degree with one year of experience as a Physician Assistant, have successfully passed the PA National Certifying Exam (PANCE), and hold a full and unrestricted license to practice in a U.S. jurisdiction.

Preferred Experience:
Meeting the qualification standards for Physician Assistants as outlined in VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Appendix G-8 is preferred.
