Key Responsibilities and Qualifications

The Pharmacy Supply Operations Manager at the Free Standing Emergency Department (FSED) is tasked with overseeing pharmacy and supply operations and managing team members to guarantee the safe and effective availability, distribution, storage, security, and control of medications and supplies. Key responsibilities include ensuring the timely receipt, ordering, and distribution of all medications and supplies within the facility, as well as maintaining Min/Max levels for safety stock in storerooms and automated dispensing cabinets. The manager will also develop, implement, and enforce policies and procedures, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance in collaboration with technicians and key stakeholders. This role aligns with the long-term goals, mission, vision, and values of the division and hospital while adhering to all regulatory standards. The manager will collaborate with the VP of Pharmacy Services, HealthTrust Chief Operating Officer, and Director of Pharmacy to establish and enhance processes to meet or exceed all regulatory requirements.

Primary Duties:

  • Register with the State Board of Pharmacy as the Consultant of Record for FSED locations if necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with JCAHO standards, Drug Enforcement Administration regulations, State Board of Pharmacy requirements, hospital policies, and other federal and state laws.
  • Participate in quality and regulatory reviews and audits, addressing any identified gaps promptly and accurately.
  • Maintain accurate records for controlled substances and collaborate with Pharmacy Directors to create standardized processes for controlled substance diversion prevention and monitoring.
  • Develop, review, and enforce relevant policies and procedures for the FSED.
  • Supervise FSED technicians managing pharmacy and supply responsibilities.
  • Assess staffing needs for the FSED team to meet service and regulatory requirements.
  • Create and manage staff schedules.
  • Conduct staff performance evaluations.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science or Doctor of Pharmacy from an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy - Required.
  • Proficient understanding of the legal responsibilities of pharmacists in relation to facility operations and all applicable state and federal regulations - Required.
  • Three years of experience in acute care hospital settings, with supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
  • Experience managing offsite locations of acute care hospitals is preferred.

Licenses, Certifications, & Training:

  • Consultant Pharmacist (Florida Only) - Required.
  • Pharmacist License - Required.
