Position Overview

Canonical, a prominent provider of open-source software and operating systems, is seeking a Regional HR Manager to oversee our operations in the AMER region. As a key player in the technology sector, we are committed to innovation and excellence in our HR practices.

In this role, you will report directly to the Global Head of HR and play a crucial part in shaping our HR function during a period of significant growth. Your leadership will guide a team of HR professionals across the region, ensuring that our HR operations are precise, compliant, and scalable.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and expand Canonical's regional HR team, managing 1-4 direct reports based on regional needs.
  • Ensure timely and accurate delivery of HR operations, maintaining the highest standards of compliance.
  • Collaborate closely with Talent Science and Workplace Engineering teams to develop integrated HR processes.
  • Oversee essential HR functions, including talent development, succession planning, performance evaluations, onboarding, and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Partner with senior management on matters of performance management, organizational design, and workforce planning.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to people managers on a wide range of employee relations issues across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Support the implementation of training and development programs in collaboration with people managers.
  • Establish strong partnerships with business leaders in your region to drive HR initiatives.
  • Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts within the organization.
  • Design and implement new policies and lead critical HR projects on a global scale.
  • Represent Canonical at events to communicate our HR practices effectively.
Qualifications
  • Strong academic background with a proven track record in HR leadership within a technology-focused organization.
  • Experience in managing HR initiatives across various regions.
  • Demonstrated people management skills.
  • Proven ability to partner with senior stakeholders effectively.
  • Balance of strategic leadership and hands-on execution in daily HR operations.
  • Experience in a remote-first work environment.
  • Adept at using data to inform decision-making.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of HR practices and employment law across the AMER region.
  • Fluency in business English, both written and spoken.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and results-oriented with a positive and energetic approach.
  • Willingness to travel for internal events as required.
Preferred Skills
  • Familiarity with immigration policies and mobility processes.
  • Professional HR qualifications (CIPD/SHRM or equivalent).
  • Strong facilitation skills.
