The Mechanical Field Engineer plays a crucial role in performing calculations for the sizing and specification of mechanical systems, including equipment, piping, ductwork, and HVAC solutions within the Energy Sector.

This position also involves supporting construction efforts, enhancing the EPC market footprint in the Renewable Natural Gas/Bio Gas domain, and working closely with the Construction Management Team to ensure successful project execution.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct calculations for the sizing and specification of mechanical systems, including equipment, piping, ductwork, and HVAC.
  • Perform fieldwork regularly to verify compliance with project specifications.
  • Create detailed contract drawings and specifications.
  • Assist in construction activities by reviewing equipment submittals and addressing contractor RFIs.
  • Enhance skills in data analysis, including internet research and Excel spreadsheet management.
  • Execute hydronic system pressure drop calculations and select appropriate pumps.
  • Carry out heat and mass balance calculations.
  • Edit specifications for piping, valves, and insulation tailored to individual projects.
  • Perform duct static pressure drop calculations, fan sizing, and duct sizing.
  • Conduct heating and cooling load assessments.
  • Prepare specifications and technical documentation under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Support design teams and assist in managing subcontractor activities.
  • Engage with clients to communicate project requirements to engineering teams and participate in project meetings.
  • Compile weekly and monthly project reports.
  • Manage RFIs and coordinate responses with engineering staff.
  • Monitor project progress with bi-weekly schedule updates.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • E.I.T. Certification is preferred.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer in Industrial or Energy sectors.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
  • Possess a valid Driver's License and be willing to travel to various project sites regularly.
