POSITION TITLE: Custodian

REPORTS TO: School Principal

POSITION SUMMARY: The Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment for students, staff, and visitors. This role is essential in supporting the educational process by ensuring that the school facilities are hygienic and well-maintained.

FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

Essential Functions

Conducts regular inspections of the school premises to ensure cleanliness and safety standards are met.Performs cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and sanitizing various areas of the school.Handles waste disposal and recycling in accordance with established procedures.Maintains inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, ensuring they are stocked and in good working condition.Reports any maintenance issues or safety hazards to the appropriate personnel.Assists in setting up and taking down furniture and equipment for school events and activities.Participates in training sessions and staff meetings as required.Adheres to health and safety regulations while performing duties.Provides support during emergencies and assists in maintaining a safe environment.Engages with students and staff in a friendly and professional manner.

Standing, walking, lifting, bending, and reaching.Normal vision and the ability to distinguish colors are required.Light to moderate physical demands, including regular lifting of light items.

Typical indoor conditions, with occasional exposure to cleaning chemicals.

POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Experience: Previous custodial or maintenance experience is preferred.

Ability to follow instructions and perform tasks independently.Basic math skills for inventory management.Effective communication skills to interact with staff and students.Ability to work collaboratively with others to achieve common goals.

Cleaning equipment, tools, and safety gear.
