Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize specialized knowledge of construction techniques and assist in the management and oversight of construction projects.
  • Conduct building layout, supervise and allocate tasks to team members, and coordinate project activities in the absence of the Superintendent.
  • Oversee equipment operations, ensure proper maintenance, and inspect ongoing work to confirm compliance with specifications and timelines.

Supervisory Duties:

  • Lead crews and subcontractors effectively.

Additional Duties:

  • Analyze data to determine material and labor needs.
  • Work in the field under the direct guidance of the Superintendent, performing tasks related to concrete, steel, and carpentry as required.
  • Ensure shop drawings align with building documents.
  • Assist in planning, organizing, and scheduling project work.
  • Engage with clients, vendors, and subcontractors to address and resolve issues, contributing to effective project execution.
  • Collaborate with the Superintendent and other stakeholders to plan and implement work procedures, interpret specifications, and coordinate various construction phases to mitigate delays.
  • Review project documents to ascertain material types and structural dimensions; prepare layouts using appropriate tools and company standards.
  • Shape materials to specified measurements and assemble components using the correct tools.
  • Maintain safety standards and adhere to incident reporting protocols, escalating issues to the Superintendent or Safety Coordinator as necessary.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Understanding of basic construction principles and practices.
  • Familiarity with project management and scheduling methodologies.
  • Knowledge of subcontractor responsibilities.
  • Proficiency in construction skills and the use of hand and power tools.
  • Competence in computer systems and software, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Awareness of safety hazards and precautions on construction sites, including OSHA certification.
  • Knowledge of relevant building codes and regulations.
  • Ability to interpret engineering plans and specifications.
  • Experience in maintaining records and preparing reports.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders.
  • Capability to manage inventory and materials.
  • Experience in equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Jobsite layout expertise.
  • Ability to monitor team performance and act as a crew leader.
  • Valid Driver's License.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Requirements:

  • This position may require balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, driving, and repetitive motions.
  • Incumbents may encounter moving mechanical parts, vibrations, fumes, dust, and extreme temperatures.
  • Heavy work may be required, involving exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds frequently.
