ROLE OVERVIEW

The Installation Operations Leader is tasked with overseeing, guiding, and coordinating the fabrication and installation division, ensuring that deliverables are met within the designated time frame, budget, and adhere to AVI-SPL's quality benchmarks and best practices. This role also involves collaboration with Project Management and other departmental leaders to guarantee that all internal engineering, CAD, and programming outputs are ready for field engineering, shop, and installation tasks. Additionally, the Installation Operations Leader will manage and coordinate external efforts, including all outsourced or subcontracted work in support of project installation initiatives. As an Installation Operations Leader, you will provide mentorship to all technical personnel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, train, and lead the fabrication and installation workforce, implementing best practices for resource scheduling.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and other department heads to ensure all necessary project documentation and deliverables are prepared for fabrication and installation tasks.
  • Manage the installation budget for the department and provide recommendations to senior management as necessary.
  • Promote adherence to AVI-SPL's Installation & Fabrication standards and best practices.
  • Oversee quality assurance for shop fabrication and on-site installation processes.
  • Monitor labor expenditures to ensure they remain within budget.
  • Coordinate maintenance of fleet vehicles, equipment delivery, and related responsibilities, including field installation and troubleshooting support as required.
  • Act as a liaison for clients in the absence of the Project Manager.
  • Facilitate control system programming and field testing of integrated systems, providing training to clients on system usage.
  • Interpret electronic schematics and architectural blueprints effectively.
  • Utilize hand and power tools for tasks such as soldering and crimping connectors, along with various other AV systems-related activities.
  • Execute installation tasks for audio-visual projects, including but not limited to cable pulling, connector installation, display mounting, and metal fabrication as necessary.
  • Assist in transitioning projects to the service department upon completion and facilitate project sign-off when required.
  • Travel to various job sites as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential Skills:

  • Proven experience in planning, executing, and managing the activities of an installation workforce, including recruiting, training, and resource scheduling.
  • Experience in developing and implementing business processes to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Ability to manage and direct projects to successful completion.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to create alignment among management.
  • Proficient in attracting and developing talent.
  • Ability to guide a team towards a unified set of strategic objectives while maintaining efficient timelines.
  • Demonstrated capability to contribute to or lead operational initiatives with a focus on results.
  • Knowledge of basic signal flow for audio, video, and control systems.
  • Exceptional strategic thinking and structured problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Adaptability to switch tasks while managing changing priorities.
  • Ability to negotiate conflicts and maintain constructive relationships across all organizational levels.
  • Self-motivated individual capable of working independently and meeting deadlines.
  • Proficient in the safe and efficient use of hand and power tools.
  • Experience managing small to medium-sized projects.
  • Valid Driver's License with a Motor Vehicle Record that meets AVI-SPL driving standards.
  • Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or a related field (MBA or master's degree preferred).
  • 4 to 6 years of installation management experience overseeing diverse operations across multiple business units, preferably in the Audio Visual or Construction sectors.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with construction or project management theories and practices.
  • Familiarity with AV or other electromechanical systems is advantageous.
  • Basic programming skills (AMX/Creston) for modifications and troubleshooting.
