Position: Service Technician Specialist

Department: Service

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Position Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Service Manager, the Service Technician Specialist is responsible for the installation of new equipment, conducting preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and performing emergency repairs on BLM equipment at client locations. This role is essential in ensuring timely resolutions to customer inquiries while fostering positive client relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the sales team in servicing BLM equipment.
  • Install new machinery at customer sites.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and emergency repairs on equipment at client locations.
  • Accurately document all services performed and future service needs.
  • Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction and service quality.
  • Demonstrate BLM GROUP software capabilities to clients.
  • Prepare service reports and installation documentation promptly and accurately.
  • Track expenses and submit expense reports in a timely manner.
  • Ensure a safe working environment in compliance with OSHA/MIOSHA standards.
  • Collaborate with other departments as necessary.
  • Be available for overtime as required by workload and customer needs.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required; an Associate Degree in a technical field is preferred or equivalent military experience.
  • 2 to 4 years of experience in a technical role.
  • Minimum of one year in a customer service position.
  • Willingness to travel up to 90% as assigned.
  • Experience with Trumpf laser machines, Amada Laser, Mazak laser, or similar machinery is preferred.

Licensing/Certifications

Must possess a valid Driver's License with no more than two points on the driving record within the last three years.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Able to effectively utilize the Internet for research and troubleshooting.
  • Understanding of I/O structures for technical troubleshooting.
  • Ability to use electric/electronic testing and measurement tools effectively.
  • Capable of analyzing and resolving mechanical or electrical issues based on data.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting technical manuals and documents.
  • Strong documentation skills for technical data and service records.
  • Excellent communication skills for conveying technical issues and resolutions.
  • Demonstrated customer service skills with a focus on relationship building.
  • Highly organized with strong time management abilities.
  • Effective team player, able to collaborate with diverse teams and clients.
  • Fluency in Italian is preferred but not required.

Physical and Mental Demands

The physical demands of this position require the ability to manipulate, handle, and operate tools and equipment; reach, stand, walk, sit, climb, and lift up to 70 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close and distance vision, color vision, and depth perception.

Mental demands include the ability to communicate effectively, analyze and solve problems, and work under pressure while interacting with various stakeholders.

Work Environment

This position primarily operates in a manufacturing setting with moderate to loud noise levels, with occasional office work. Travel may be required both domestically and internationally as directed by management.

Reporting Structure

This role reports directly to the Service Manager.
