Position Overview:

As a Talent Acquisition and Community Engagement Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing our communication strategies and outreach efforts. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Monitoring and managing incoming media inquiries and interview requests, as well as creating content for press releases, articles, and presentations that align with the needs of our communications team.
  • Organizing and archiving communications from subject matter experts to ensure effective dissemination of information.
  • Preparing comprehensive briefing materials and detailed scientific summaries that cover a wide array of diseases and research topics relevant to our initiatives.
  • Facilitating internal and external communication channels, which may encompass newsletters, intranet updates, electronic displays, and policy documents.
  • Assisting in the creation of an annual editorial calendar to support our communications initiatives and highlight significant events.
  • Ensuring that all public-facing messages and materials are credible, clear, and impactful.
  • Developing specialized content that addresses complex subject matter for diverse audiences.
  • Providing guidance and reviewing materials prepared by other team members.
  • Creating scientific and technical documentation that showcases our research programs and achievements.
  • Supporting the development of messaging and products that effectively communicate our research successes.
  • Designing visual and written communication materials that align with NIH, NIAID, and VRC standards.
  • Preparing documents in compliance with office protocols, including thorough reviews and edits to ensure adherence to regulations and publication standards.
  • Evaluating documents for logical structure and verifying information accuracy using reputable sources.
  • Continuously exploring new communication methods to enhance efficiency and ensure messages are tailored to the appropriate audiences.

Qualifications:

  • A Master's or Ph.D. degree in a relevant scientific discipline.
  • At least one (1) year of experience in a related scientific field.
  • Proven expertise in writing, editing, and proofreading.
  • Experience in drafting scientific manuscripts and reviews.
  • Ability to convey scientific concepts to a general audience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Teams, etc.).
