California, Missouri, United States ReCharge Payments Full time
Position Overview

The Quality Assurance division at ReCharge Payments is dedicated to ensuring the delivery of high-quality software solutions through a combination of automated testing frameworks, manual feature assessments, and ongoing product reliability evaluations. One of the key initiatives you will engage with is an analytics platform aimed at assisting merchants in evaluating their business performance, resolving customer concerns, and preparing for future expansion. This product serves as a fundamental component of our merchant experience and supports various other offerings.

As a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test, your responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating effectively with fellow engineers and product teams to pragmatically design and develop software solutions.
  • Creating automation tests to ensure the stability and functionality of ReCharge product features as the codebase evolves.
  • Reviewing code submissions and partnering with engineers to comprehend and assess code prior to deployment.
  • Mentoring junior SDETs and participating in on-call support rotations as necessary to assist our products.
  • Leveraging your expertise to navigate and resolve engineering challenges.
About You

Execution: You are driven by results and thrive on delivering products to customers. You prefer an iterative approach with consistent updates to stakeholders rather than large, infrequent releases. You view QA as a crucial partner in empowering development teams, rather than merely a bug-finding entity. You take ownership of regular shipping and understand the importance of merchant feedback in shaping effective solutions.

Engineering Excellence: You possess extensive experience in developing intricate systems, whether starting from scratch or enhancing existing frameworks. You are adept at contributing to both scenarios, with a focus on quality, reliability, and observability, while balancing these aspects with timely delivery. Familiarity with Python is essential, as it will be a primary tool in your role.

Communication: You excel in conveying ideas across various platforms, including face-to-face interactions, video calls, chat, and written documentation. You value collaboration and recognize its significance in producing high-quality work. While you appreciate focused work, you also understand the importance of peer feedback and architectural discussions.

Pragmatic Approach: You work effectively with leadership, product counterparts, and your team to navigate daily realities. You recognize that plans may shift as new insights emerge and are adaptable to these changes. You are skilled at managing ambiguity and guiding your team through unclear requirements.

Proactive Mindset: You are self-motivated and take ownership of challenges. You tend to act decisively when necessary while balancing the need for thorough research and understanding of issues.

Respect and Kindness: You aim to foster a positive team environment, showing respect for yourself, your colleagues, your leaders, and your stakeholders. You seek a role where your contributions are acknowledged and valued, and you strive to collaborate with others to create this atmosphere.

Ambition: You are eager to advance in your career, whether that means aspiring to a staff engineer position or a management role. You are committed to personal growth and aim to elevate the standards for your teammates. You seek a role where you can make a significant impact, understanding that this is essential for your upward trajectory.

Qualifications:

  • Typically, 5+ years of relevant software development experience with Python, Node.js, JavaScript, and/or TypeScript.
  • Experience with various automated testing frameworks, including Playwright, TestCafe, or similar end-to-end testing tools.
  • Familiarity with microservices architecture.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related STEM field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Previous experience in e-commerce is preferred.
  • Experience with analytics or time-series data products is advantageous.
