Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Facilities Maintenance Specialist to join our team at the Houston Journal of Health Law & Policy. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our high-traffic buildings and offices.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Maintain a Clean and Orderly Environment: Ensure that all areas of the building are clean, tidy, and free of clutter, including high-traffic areas and public spaces.
  2. Clean and Sanitize Surfaces: Use a variety of cleaning equipment and supplies to clean and sanitize surfaces, including floors, walls, and furniture.
  3. Manage Waste and Recycling: Empty wastebaskets, replace liners, and ensure that trash is properly disposed of in collection areas.
  4. Perform Routine Maintenance: Assist in ordering supplies and materials, recommend products as needed, and perform routine maintenance tasks to ensure the smooth operation of our facilities.
  5. Supervise and Train Staff: May supervise other custodial staff in the absence of a Lead Custodian and provide hands-on training to new employees.
  6. Conduct Quality Control Inspections: Regularly inspect assigned areas to ensure that they meet our high standards for cleanliness and organization.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of one (1) year of directly job-related experience.
  • The ability to read, write, and follow simple oral instructions as might normally be acquired through up to 8 years of formal schooling.
