Job Overview

Position Summary

Forensic Building Science, a leading inspection firm dedicated to investigating the causes of structural failures, is seeking a detail-oriented and diligent professional to conduct inspections on various types of buildings impacted by construction defects, natural disasters, fire, water damage, and other issues.

Travel Requirements: Willingness to travel up to 60% for assignments outside the state. Remote work is available when not traveling.

Essential Qualifications:

  • High proficiency in Outlook and Salesforce is essential.
  • Strong understanding of building codes and industry standards.
  • Capability to perform inspections, including working from ladders, lifts, scaffolds, swing stages, and sloped rooftops.
  • Ability to observe, document, and photograph properties for damage assessment.
  • Review and evaluate repair cost estimates prepared by team members; familiarity with Xactimate is advantageous.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently in both field and home office settings.
  • Collaborative mindset to work effectively with colleagues and partners.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with clients.

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in fields such as Public/Independent Adjusting, Construction Management/Services, Building Code Official, or Inspection (construction or facilities-related).
  • Registered Roofing Consultant or Registered Roof Observer credentials, or similar IIBEC certifications.
  • Litigation support experience, including deposition, mediation, or trial experience, is a plus.

  • Ability to work safely and efficiently around various building types and heights.
  • Physical capability to lift up to 45 lbs.
  • Articulate communication skills.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Clear background check.
  • Three professional references.
  • Comfortable working in outdoor environments.
  • Familiarity with safety and technical equipment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
  • Adaptable to learning new software and troubleshooting basic IT issues on various devices.

Location: Proximity to a major airport is preferred.
