Job Overview

Position Summary

The YMCA of Orange County is seeking dedicated individuals for Full-time and Part-time childcare leadership roles in North Orange County. The primary responsibilities of this position include:
  • Design, execute, and manage curriculum-focused activities for participants, which encompass homework support, social-emotional development, creative arts, STEM/STEAM initiatives, and physical fitness.
  • Promote youth achievement through mentorship, support, and motivation, actively fostering engagement and participation in programs.
  • Conduct regular evaluations of programs, services, and activities to ensure participant safety, uphold program quality, and maintain a clean and organized facility or classroom setting.
  • Assist participants in making constructive choices, applying suitable disciplinary measures when necessary to cultivate a stable and nurturing environment conducive to their growth.
  • Effectively communicate and collaborate with participants, staff, parents, educational personnel, and community stakeholders.
  • Attend and engage in all mandatory staff development workshops, meetings, and training sessions.
  • Document and maintain daily attendance and other required records.
  • Preferred Availability: Morning shifts- 6:30am to 8:00am; Part-time shifts- 1:30pm to 6:00pm; Full-time roles also available.

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Passion for working with children
  • Entry-level Assistant positions available
  • Preferred experience working with children aged 5-12 in a daycare, after-school program, or camp setting
  • Early Childhood Education (ECE) credits or related field (Sociology, Psychology, etc.) for Teacher positions (no credits required for assistant roles) Please upload any college transcripts when applying.

Qualifications

Minimum Hiring Criteria: The following qualifications are essential for successfully fulfilling the duties and responsibilities of this position. Education & Certifications:
  • Assistant or Youth Development Staff: High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Teacher 1: 6 units in Child Development or a related field; and continuous enrollment in a minimum of 2 units per semester toward completion of 12 units required.
  • Teacher 2: 12 units in Child Development or a related field.
  • Teacher 3: 12 college units with 6 units in Child Development, Education. 6 units may be in Psychology, Sociology, Recreation, Physical Education, Art, and Music. 15-hour preventative health practice certifications within 90 days of employment. Complete YMCA Core trainings within the first 60 days of employment.
Experience & Background:
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Preferred 6 months of experience working with children
  • Teacher 1 & 2: 6 months of experience working with children required
  • Teacher 3: One year of experience working with children required.
