Position Overview:
The Financial Operations Accountant will be responsible for managing tuition payment processing, vendor invoice handling, and providing exceptional customer service to students, faculty, and staff.

Key Responsibilities:
Assisting the Business Office Manager in overseeing student statements, collections, and refunds. The role involves aiding in accounts payable processes and grant management.

Supervision:
This position operates under the general guidance of the Business Office Manager, with no supervisory responsibilities.

Essential Duties:
1. Collaborate with collection agencies to ensure accurate check deposits and requisition preparations monthly.
2. Address disputes received from collection agencies.
3. Manage Parent Plus Loans processed by Financial Aid prior to student refunds.
4. Execute weekly student refunds and respond to requests.
5. Support the Business Office Manager in implementing financial holds as necessary throughout the semester.
6. Establish daily processes to accurately determine student billing.
7. Collect, organize, and verify financial data for Accounts Payable entries.
8. Maintain comprehensive records of all financial data entered.

Communication:
Engage in clear written and verbal communication with vendors, contractors, and service providers to resolve billing issues and manage accounts effectively. Maintain precise vendor records.

Customer Service:
Respond to inquiries from staff, faculty, and students, providing information and directing them to the appropriate personnel when necessary.

Financial Processing:
Timely processing of invoices, checks, and direct deposits. Manage grant checks and auto withdrawal requests for deposits. Enter indirect cost allocations and match journal entries. Oversee accounts payable and receivable activities for grant subcontracts, collaborating with project directors for financial processing and reporting.

Compliance and Reporting:
Send regular reports to grant constituents and monitor compliance with internal policies related to grant funds.

Additional Duties:
Perform other tasks as assigned by the Business Office Manager to support the university's financial operations.

Education and Experience:
A minimum of an Associate's degree in accounting, business management, finance, or a related field, along with one year of relevant financial experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. A Bachelor's degree and two to three years of progressively responsible experience are preferred.

Skills and Abilities:
Proficiency in computer applications, including spreadsheets and word processing. Strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate effectively. Knowledge of university financial processes and confidentiality standards is essential. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Tools and Equipment:
Familiarity with office equipment such as personal computers, adding machines, fax machines, copiers, and printers is necessary.

Work Environment:
This role is primarily office-based, with a moderately quiet noise level.
