POSITION OVERVIEW:

The full-time Case Supervisor will work as part of a dynamic team of staff and volunteers to support the mission of CASA Sacramento and our work on behalf of local foster youth. This is a professional, highly visible position requires the ability to multi-task, manage deadlines and work with many different personalities. In the role of Case Supervisor, the employee is responsible for the assignment and supervision of Court Appointed Special Advocate volunteers. Regular monitoring of volunteers for compliance with program policies and court rules, as well as assistance in the ongoing recruitment, training, and support of volunteers is required. Review of court documents, editing of court reports and attendance at court hearings (virtual or in-person) is required. The Case Supervisor must be able to manage the complexity of the juvenile dependency and juvenile justice court processes and be accountable for program participation in court proceedings and accurate data collection within a case management database. This position is funded through a grant under the Victims of Crime Act (VOCA). Reporting on statistics of crime victims served by our program and volunteer hours contributed are part of the regular documentation requirements.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Volunteer Training

• Assist with volunteer recruitment.

• Assist with screening and interviewing prospective volunteers as needed.

• Assist with training sessions (pre-service and in-service) as needed-court report activity 4-6 times per year.

• Prepare and conduct a minimum of one in-service training per year.

• Assist with the presentation of VOCA related policies to the CASA team.

Case Management

• Coordinate, document, and channel all CASA requests until resolution.

• Match CASA case with appropriate volunteer in consultation with the Program Director.

• Full-Time: Manage an ongoing volunteer caseload of 40-45 cases. Service target of at least 65 children served in a 12-month period.

• Prepare and file orders for case assignment and removal of volunteers.

• Consult with CASA volunteers about problems or concerns.

• Attend court hearings with or in place of CASA volunteers.

• Review, edit and timely submit court reports to the Program Director/Program Manager for final review and signature.

• File court reports at least 3 business days prior to scheduled hearing.

• Enters and maintains all case information in CASA Manager database.

• Perform case research in collaboration with CASA Intake/Referral Coordinator.

• Maintain Volunteer and youth case files to ensure timeliness, completeness, and accuracy.

• Make a minimum of a monthly contact with each volunteer and receive a written monthly report from each volunteer.

• Maintain monthly VOCA timecards for volunteer advocates.

Program Activities

• Attend monthly all-staff meetings and bi-monthly Case Supervisor meetings.

• Assist with scheduling and conducting orientation sessions.

• Represent CASA, when appropriate and necessary, at community events aimed at volunteer recruitment, fundraising and community awareness.

• Establish and maintain professional relationships with partners in juvenile dependency/juvenile justice systems. Become familiar with community resources available to support foster youth and how to access them.

• Attend swearing-in ceremonies for new CASA volunteers.

• Attend at least one regular court/community meeting on behalf of the CASA Program

• Perform other duties as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree (preferably in social service-related field, social work, human services or psychology).

• 3+ years of experience in volunteer coordination and/or social services.

• Graduate work/degree in social work/human services/child development/psychology highly desirable.

• Ability to communicate with, supervise and empower volunteers to be effective in their roles. Experience with volunteers is a bonus.

• Knowledge and understanding of issues and dynamics within families in crisis relating to child abuse and neglect. Experience in the fields of child abuse, juvenile law or volunteer program management preferred.

• Excellent written, oral communication and interviewing skills.

• Competent in the use of computers, Office suite of software and social media.

• Professional maturity and the ability to foster positive relationships with a diverse array of individuals and professionals.

• Spanish-English bilingual is a bonus.

• Understanding of and respect for the importance of court procedures and filing deadlines.

• Reliable transportation, good driving record and auto insurance.

• Criminal justice fingerprint clearance.

• Must pass a background check in accordance with California Rule of Court 5.655.
• DOJ/FBI/CACI and DMV background checks required.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Full-Time (40 hours per week). Schedule is Monday – Friday, however some evening and late nights (9 pm) are required during the CASA quarterly training classes.

• Work performed in a hybrid environment (60% in office & 40% remote). CASA Sacramento currently operates a hybrid model of 2-3 days per week in office and remainder of the week remote/in-office as needed. (New hires eligible for hybrid work after 3 week in-office training/onboarding complete.)

• Must complete 40 hours of CASA volunteer training within 90 days of hire. (This requirement may be waived if already completed as a CASA volunteer).

• There is a 6 month introductory period.

• Some weekend hours for training classes and events are required throughout the year.

• Ability to lift 20 lbs throughout the day and be able to sit or stand for long periods of time.

BENEFITS:
