Job Summary: The Database Administrator for The Threats, Targets for Testing and Training Systems (4TS) program will work with the 4TS Maximo team responsible for troubleshooting, updating, and maintaining support of Threat Systems Management Office's (TSMO) Maximo and Configuration Management Systems (CMS) software applications/systems, servers, and network. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of database administration for Microsoft SQL Server to include database maintenance tasks, backup, and recovery, patching and updating, security, optimization, and ensuring system availability. The candidate should easily work with a team and have above average soft skills that allows them to interface with users. Responsibilities: Work closely with team members to capture and define system requirements, develop solutions, and align system capabilities with organizational objectives. Maintain and apply database patches as necessary to ensure database system security standards are up to date. Work with the Maximo team and other program personnel to query the database and run reports as necessary. Monitor, maintain, and create interfaces between databases and applications as necessary. Assist with development and maintenance of BIRT reports from Maximo. Monitor database performance and provide recommendation for improvement to ensure optimal performance, availability, and security. Perform regular maintenance tasks to include index rebuilding, query optimization, and database tuning. Proactively identify and resolve database performance issues. Document database configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps. Coordinate deployment and maintenance schedules, upgrades, and patches to the database to ensure scalability, stability, and security while minimizing down time. Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off site, as necessary. Provide technical expertise and guidance to resolve complex system, performance, and/or integration issues. Stay abreast of emerging industry trends, technologies, and standard methodologies to drive innovation and efficiency. Qualifications: Minimum of 3+ years of progressive technical (hands-on) experience in SQL Server database administration. Proficient SQL writing skills: complex queries, stored procedures, triggers, functions, etc. Experience with optimizing and tuning database performance. Experience with backing up and restoring databases to protect against data loss and ensuring business continuity. Understanding of disaster recovery operations for database systems. Familiarity with database tools such as Toad, SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS). Ensure data integrity utilizing DBCC CHECK tools. Understanding of relational database management systems and principles. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Strong verbal/written communications skills and ability to interact with users. Knowledge of security standards, methods, and policies; risk and threat analysis; technical security safeguards; and operational security measures. Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
