POSITION TITLE: Payroll Specialist
Location: San Diego (Hybrid in-office Mondays & Wednesdays)

Salary: $23-25/hr

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION: 

The Workforce Management division at Eastridge Workforce Solutions is looking for a Payroll Specialist to join the team in San Diego, CA. 

RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS:

  • Support all timekeeping, payroll, and invoicing for a variety of clients
  • Work closely with other team members to troubleshoot and resolve errors
  • Partner with corporate services to process payroll, expenses, and other items
  • Gather and process timecards from a variety of systems
  • Execute adjustments in a timely manner
  • Provide detailed payroll information as a subject matter expert
  • Heavy data entry and quality control
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal employment law
  • Provide support for Account Manager when troubleshooting issues and requests
Typical Tasks
  • Process and prep payroll for over 400 workers on a weekly basis
  • Intake and process 50 termination checks per week (72 hour turnaround)
  • Generate, sort, audit, and deliver invoices for 30 + different clients
  • Consistently meet payroll and audit quality control deadlines weekly
  • Send weekly reminders to workers and approvers with open tasks
  • Oversee quality control and data integrity checks
  • Subject matter expert across a variety of timekeeping and ATS systems
  • Lead support and mentor junior account specialists
  • Refine standard operating procedures and implement changes as needed
  • Resolve complex issues to convey solutions and process fixes

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Minimum of 6 months payroll experience or equivalent
  • Intermediate Excel skills
  • Detail oriented individual with a strong aptitude for numbers
  • Problem solving skills and eye for compliance
  • Extremely comfortable thinking and problem solving on the fly
  • Serve customers with exceptional service and a solution first mentality
It would be great if you had these:
  • BA/BS degree from an accredited university
  • Minimum 2 years years of experience in HR, payroll, or similar
  • Knowledgeable about a variety of state specific employment laws
  • Previous experience as a mentor or team lead
