Job Summary:

We are seeking a Senior Systems Administrator to join our team at Vandenberg Space Force Base. Our ideal candidate will have extensive experience providing technical support to ensure business continuity and system security. You will be responsible for resolving software and hardware problems, applying updates and patches, tuning system performance, securing lab systems, providing technical support, and preparing purchase requests. To be successful in this role, you must have a minimum of 5 years of experience supporting Windows and Linux systems, valid U.S Driver's license, valid Security+ certification, and an Interim Secret Clearance.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and resolve software and hardware problems related to networking connectivity issues, printers, servers, and applications
  • Add, remove, or update user account information and reset passwords
  • Perform system performance tuning
  • Responsible for the security of systems in the lab
  • Perform backups and analyze system logs to identify potential issues with computer systems
  • Troubleshoot reported problems
  • Ensure the network infrastructure is up and running
  • Provide technical support and answer technical queries
  • Develop and recommend technical solutions in support of software and hardware sustainment/development activities
  • Develop and update documentation including software, hardware lists, user manuals and engineering drawings
  • Prepare purchase requests for consumables, hardware, and software as needed
  • Respond to and resolve environmental alarms

Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science or Computer Engineering or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years of experience in systems administration supporting Windows and Linux
  • Valid Security+ certification
  • Experience with virtualization using VMWare ESXi servers
  • Experience with CISCO routers, switches, and advanced security appliances
  • Experience with McAfee (Intel) firewalls
  • Ability to work occasional non-duty hours or weekend
  • Interim Secret clearance required
