Position Overview:
The Systems Administration Specialist is accountable for the effective management, upkeep, and oversight of computer capacity resources at both the operating system and infrastructure levels. This role involves the construction, configuration, troubleshooting, and integration of both new and existing servers to enhance service delivery, facilitate application deployments, and execute infrastructure upgrades.
The specialist will establish administrator and service accounts, maintain comprehensive system documentation, optimize system performance, install system-wide software, and manage mass storage allocations.
Key responsibilities include recommending enhancements to software and hardware, diagnosing and resolving issues, and defining as well as implementing new services aimed at maximizing server uptime and availability for clients.
Monitoring system performance and usage is essential, along with contributing to the Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP), backup systems, and disk configurations. The role also entails conducting system analysis and development to ensure systems remain current with evolving technologies.
Core Responsibilities:
• 4-6 years of experience in Red Hat Linux Administration or Engineering, and 2-4 years in Windows Administration or Engineering.
• Configure, monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot VMWare and other virtualization technologies.
• Experience in managing the VM life-cycle, including snapshots.
• System configuration expertise with Enterprise Identity Management tools (LDAP, IPA, Active Directory, etc.).
• Lead initiatives to implement changes to production systems according to a defined schedule.
• Identify and address issues impacting projects, developing courses of action (COAs) to mitigate or alleviate project impacts.
• Experience in implementing patches, conducting scans, remediating findings, and performing audits.
• Provide technical support to development teams, engaging in acquisition planning for system upgrades, enhancements, and hardware life-cycle replacements.
• Support critical operations during standard and non-standard working hours, being on-call to assist Tier 1 teams in maintaining system availability and reliability.
• This position requires 100% on-site work and cannot be performed remotely.
Qualifications:
Education:
• Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, or
• Graduate Degree with a minimum of 2 years of related experience, or
• In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
• TS/SCI security clearance is mandatory.
• DOD M IAT Level 2 certification is required.
Preferred Skills:
• DOD M IAT Level 3 certification (e.g., CASP+ CE, CCNP Security, CISA, CISSP (or Associate), GCED, or GCIH).
• Experience in constructing and configuring data Cloud environments such as AWS or GovCloud using government software.
• System configuration experience with SANs.
• Familiarity with RMF and cybersecurity requirements.
• Previous experience supporting DoD/government clients.
• Experience in hardware/software requirement verification and system validation.
• Proven ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Active TS/SCI with CI Poly is preferred.
• Experience with Configuration Management tools.
• Establish and maintain current cybersecurity configurations based on DISA STIGs and IAVM Notices.
• Experience managing boundary devices such as Cisco firewalls.
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $64,000 - $119,000.
This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
