Job Summary

This position directly manages the construction and installation of an Outside Plant (OSP) network (poles, aerial, buried, and underground fiber facilities) within a specified market area. The OSP Construction Project Engineer has direct accountability for overseeing line-crews, splicers, and contract crews all simultaneously while ensuring all OSP construction projects get completed in a safe and timely fashion within CAPEX budget parameters across multiple projects.

***This position is remote, yet candidate must be within reasonable commuting distance to Spartanburg or Lexington, SC for regular site visits.***

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage OSP crews' activity to ensure dates and objectives are met.
  • Ensure OSP crews are following proper safety guidelines.
  • Ensure OSP crews are meeting NESC code for aerial construction.
  • Partner with procurement on material forecast and scheduling.
  • Coordinate with contractors on all permit needs.
  • Create relationships with local partners.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of (5) years' technical experience working in OSP Engineering, Construction or Operations.
  • Key Competencies: Strong understanding of OSHA rules * National Electric Safety Code (NESC) requirements. * Federal, and local (municipality) regulations. * Must have the ability to work independently and effectively in a fast-paced environment. * Proven project management skills with ability to effectively manage multiple projects in various geographical areas. * Excellent verbal & written communication skills. * Must exhibit honesty, integrity and courtesy in all interactions. Must possess strong work ethic in supporting customer needs, responding promptly and consistently.
