Business Application Support Specialist

The Business Application Support Specialist works independently and as part of a team to offer expert system support, analysis, and troubleshooting of business applications for the Department of Motor Vehicles. Staff will support system users in a helpdesk-like role as a primary subject matter expert. This support can be provided for a range of departmental needs and transactions, such as driver license or identification issues, vehicle registration and titling, scanning supporting papers, fee calculations, and data retrieval/error oversight. While support may occasionally be provided in person, it will mostly be handled through a ticketing system and electronic interactions (email, MS Teams). In addition to user support, staff will work with various partners, including the department's training team, interagency staff, and vendor support staff.
This position will prioritize and oversee the system-impact analysis of requests for enhancements brought about by staff and/or management, changes in business procedures, modifications to laws, or defects in the system.
A successful applicant must have good customer service skills as they will work with users of varying skills levels and familiarity with the enterprise system and business processes, and at times, may encounter frustrated and emotional users. This position will multitask using the enterprise system to simultaneously deliver information in an accurate and professional manner while documenting issues appropriately; as well as performing related duties as required.
Employees regularly use standard software, such as the Microsoft Office Suite. In addition to using computers extensively, employees in this role may also use a copier, scanner, and telephone, among other standard office equipment. This is a full-time position that may occasionally require overtime, and is primarily worked in-office, though occasional remote work may be authorized.

In accordance with Title 23, Section 102(d), an applicant must agree to be finger-printed and pass a background investigation to be eligible for this position. The background investigation may include criminal, financial and traffic records checks. Hiring managers will notify applicants who are in the final stage of the interview process of the finger-printing and background check requirement, to which an applicant must agree to be deemed eligible for this position. Duties are performed largely in a standard office setting. Private means of transportation should be available for required travel. The role involves intensive interaction with departmental staff to include officials who may advocate strongly for their programs. Must be able to communicate and interact directly with employees at varying degrees of system skill sets as well as varying levels of authority. Conflicting priorities and operational problems may be anticipated; competing priorities and tight deadlines are a frequent occurrence.
Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree AND two (2) years technical level experience working in a business environment using an enterprise application system.
OR
Associates degree in business or computer science AND four (4) years experience at a technical level working in a business environment using an enterprise application system.
OR
Six (6) years experience at a technical level working in a business environment using an enterprise application system.
