Summary:

The Lead Specialist - IT SAP S4HANA/ABAP Developer will provide IT business process expertise and implement technology to enhance and/or streamline such processes. This position will research and resolve production problems, develop technical specifications from functional requirements for enhancements, and support projects. This position will assume responsibility for the quality and delivery of technology business solutions. Responsible to provide high level designs and quick solutions for GAP's. Need to come out with SAP development options for resolving the GAP's and providing development efforts including complexity of the effort and estimates.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Project Management:
    • Plans, directs and coordinates activities in order to ensure project goals are accomplished within defined constraints.
    • Identifies and schedules project deliverables, milestones, and required tasks.
  • Problem Resolution:
    • Provide SAP support including analysis, development, testing, tracking, and resolution.
    • Research production problems and/or enhancement issues and make appropriate code changes to the system. Initiate action and evaluate issues to develop alternative solutions. Apply expert knowledge and experience to resolve problems.
    • Key member of the SAP ABAP Support team responsible for the technical design and coding. Supports SAP modules by implementing, solving break/fix issues, and by providing design and development of RICEFW objects (Reports, Interfaces, Conversions, Enhancements, Forms and Workflows).
    • Collaborate with other teams such as Business Analysts, Functional, Basis and Security Teams.
    • Log issues and maintain status in issue tracking system for prioritizing work and reporting status.
  • Continuous Improvement and Efficiency Projects:
    • Provide input into the design of SAP enhancements and roll outs, offering feedback and advice
    • Develop quality ABAP code and its associated documentation, adhering to team & departmental guidelines
    • Provide technical expertise for system design, testing, implementation and support
    • Assist SAP Functional Analyst in requirements gathering and validation
    • Perform technical solution design, unit testing, and technical documents authoring
    • Assists in resolving production support problems. Develops and suggests alternative approaches to resolving problems
    • Conducts quality assurance activities such as peer reviews
    • Good knowledge of SAP releases and patches, including applying OSS notes
    • Develops test plans to verify logic of new or modified programs. Identifies issues as appropriate
    • Collaborate and provide excellent customer service to end users by working closely with the Functional, Development, BASIS, and Security teams within the ERP division and project teams, to deliver high quality solutions on time
    • Ability to work periodic evenings and weekends for production support and implementations as needed
    • Uses extensive IT Development knowledge at domain level and supports change management and business adoption of technologies.
    • Good understanding of the Business Requirements and ability to translate them to Solution Implementation and Deliverables, along with estimates for delivery
  • Knowledge Transfer/Mentor:
    • Develop and conduct SAP training and knowledge transfer to business clients.
    • Proactively train other IT resources to further develop their understanding of SAP application and business processes.
  • SOX Compliance:
    • Ensure that changes/enhancements are completed using appropriate SOX control processes. Recommend/implement SOX change control process changes as necessary.
Requirements:

Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required.
  • 8+ years of hands on experience in SAP ABAP on HANA
  • 2+ years of experience with SAP S/4 HANA
  • Experience with Webdynpro, Core Data Services (CDS views), ABAP Objects, Switch Framework, ALE/EDI/IDOCs, Workflows, Web services, SAP Scripts, Smart forms, Adobe Interactive forms
  • Experience in the following topics and apply them to bring in value to organizational initiatives: SAP ABAP Development, HANA Technical Concept and Architecture, Data Modeling using HANA Studio, Code Performance Rules and Guidelines for SAP HANA, Native SQL, ABAP Core data Services, ALV on HANA, and HANA Live models consumption.
  • Enhancement experience in the OpenText VIM (Vendor Invoice Management) and working on Invoice approval workflows.
  • Experience in preparing Technical Design documents from Functional Specs
  • Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills
  • Should possess excellent debugging and trouble-shooting skills in ABAP
  • Functional knowledge in SAP Modules such as FICO, MM, PM, IS-OIL, PRA, EHSM etc.
Required experience is commensurate with the selected job level:
  • The Senior IT Specialist level requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and 5-8 years of relevant job related experience
  • The Lead IT Specialist level requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and 8+ years of relevant job related experience
  • The Principal IT Specialist level requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and 10+ years of relevant job related experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in Midstream Oil & Gas industry is a plus
  • SAP Certification is a plus
Working Conditions:

  • Usually, normal office working conditions.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing.
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required.
  • Occasional visits to industrial/manufacturing settings, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment.
