The Lab Facilities Engineer works with a team of engineers, technicians, and contractors to ensure the implementation of best practices and continuous improvement across the installation infrastructure and associated processes. This role interacts with all members of the facilities manager organization, including senior management, projects and operations teams, field technicians, and client representatives.

Previous experience in the design and commissioning of lab spaces will be beneficial to this role and is desired.

Responsibilities

Perform facilities condition assessments of building portfolio and associated infrastructure. Perform risk assessment for planned projects and maintenance work to mitigate impacts on operations. Utilize data from the building management system (BMS) and site assessments to determine the capacity and utilization of mechanical and process systems via trend analysis and engineering calculations. Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) as needed to resolve identified fundamental design, operational, or maintenance issues and recommend improvements to design guidelines and other processes. Conduct design reviews for infrastructure and tenant improvement (TI) projects to ensure compliance with relevant standards, design guidelines, best practices, and stakeholder expectations. Proactively identify process deficiencies and other issues, and develop and implement improvements. Ensure internal records and databases are verified through ongoing quality assurance/quality control. Prepare and present reports to stakeholders as appropriate to drive effective solutions. Represent the client on the project team to ensure stakeholder requirements are appropriately addressed and all issues are effectively resolved. Recommend new processes and changes to existing processes to demonstrate continuous improvement. Coordinate engineering team resources to meet expectations for various programs and services to stakeholders of the Engineering department. Provide subject matter expertise (SME) within the team and internal stakeholders to ensure holistic and robust analysis with high quality and clear value to the client and other stakeholders. Demonstrate ownership of assigned projects, tasks, and initiatives to drive solutions to closure. Qualifications required

Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field. (Associates degree with additional relevant experience may be considered.) 5+ years of experience in mechanical engineering. Experience with electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection equipment and systems. Demonstrated ability to organize and manage multiple simultaneous projects. Demonstrated experience in trend analysis. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Preferred Qualifications

Engineering and/or Industry certification (i.e. P.E., CRL, CMRP, PMP). Previous experience in design, commissioning, and operational support of systems. Previous experience with building management systems (BMS).
