Job Description

General Scope of Duties

Perform activities supporting the recruitment and hiring of staff applicants including liaison with hiring managers and media outlets, writing and placing recruitment advertisements, communicating with applicants, and administering the on-line applicant tracking system. Perform a wide variety of clerical duties related to human resources, including but not limited to maintaining personnel records and files. Provide administrative office support including processing invoices for payment, ordering office supplies, answering phones, scheduling appointments and welcoming visitors. Provide administrative support to the Vice President of Human Resources.

General Duties and Responsibilities

+ Coordinate staff recruitment process including administering the electronic staff applicant tracking system; liaise with hiring managers; initiate and track position requests; develop and place recruitment ads; correspond with applicants; conduct background screening; and prepare and send conditional offer of employment letters and appointment letters.

+ Coordinate and administer staff onboarding including, but not limited to obtaining all new hire paperwork, and scheduling benefits orientation for eligible staff.

+ Coordinate and process adjustment period evaluations, and log all staff performance evaluations within the Colleges HRIS .

+ Provide administrative support to the Vice President of Human Resources and Organizational Development.

+ Process invoices and keep budget related files.

+ Process employment verifications and other employee related forms.

+ Respond to calls, visitors, maintain ccemployment@conncoll.edu; humanresources@conncoll.edu; ccemployment@conncoll.eduand any other assigned HR email boxes by providing information/assistance and/or direct to appropriate personnel

+ Hire and manage student employees.

+ Coordinate the annual new staff breakfast and the annual faculty and staff picnic including communicating the event to employees, reserving the space, working with facilities services and the events office on set-up, engaging and coordinating with caterer, coordinating family entertainment, monitoring the guest count, and obtaining gifts for raffle. Obtain event feedback from staff council and modify events accordingly.

+ Support the Sr. HR Generalist in Backup of the Human Resources Operations and Systems Specialists HRIS responsibilities including position, job and employee record management, salary planner function and student payroll.

+ Open, distribute and file mail/correspondence.

+ Assist in preparation and implementation of employee mailings.

+ Maintain personnel records and keep filing up to date.

+ Order equipment and supplies; coordinate printing services and distribution and arrange for equipment and building repairs or maintenance.

+ Create and maintain supervisory lists, organizational charts and College data as necessary.

Education and Skills

+ Associates Degree and 2 4 years of office experience required.

+ Strong written and verbal communication skills.

+ Ability to interact well with a variety of people from all aspects of the college and community

+ Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience using an electronic applicant tracking system and an HRIS preferred, elucian/Banner knowledge a plus.

+ High integrity needed to handle confidential information.

+ Knowledge of general office equipment.

+ Attention to detail.

+ Well-organized, able to work under pressure, plan and accomplish goals.

+ Little travel required.
