Job Summary:

Performs a variety of clerical duties including data entry and prepares mailouts for internal billings. Records applicant and employee information on logs and into computer databases. Verifies and obtains reference and work history information from prior employers, educational organizations, individuals, credit bureaus, and other sources. Prepares and posts job openings. Takes fingerprints of employees.

Job Duties:

Provides information to applicants regarding application process, employment policies, organization, and open positions. Instructs applicants on completing employment applications, reviews applications for completeness, and obtains additional information from applicants such as work experience, education, training, skills, and references. Takes fingerprints of employees. Enters job opening and applicant information into computer databases or files. Verifies and obtains reference and work history information from prior employers, educational organizations, individuals, credit bureaus, and other sources. Prepares reports of applicant flow and job opening information. Administers and scores tests given to applicants. Compiles and files data related to applicants and open positions. Prepares and posts job openings internally. Records data on specified forms to update personnel and employment records. Records employee information such as personal data, compensation, benefits, tax data, attendance, performance reviews or evaluations, and termination date and reason. Processes employment applications and assists in other employment activities. Examines employee files to answer inquiries and provides information to authorized persons. Prepares, processes and reconciles vendor payment documentation. Maintains billing files and responds to inquiries regarding status of payments. Prepares and disburses department billing for pre-employment background checks. Other duties may be assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications:

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT

One year certificate from college or technical school; or one and one-half years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT

An additional one (1) year of clerical experience or preferably Human Resources experience.

COMPUTER SKILLS

An individual should have knowledge of Database software; Human Resource systems; Internet software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating. Must be able to operate standard computer programs and office machines. Must display appropriate telephone etiquette and possess excellent people skills.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

Employee must not and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIGs Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSAs List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIGs List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
