Brief Description SUMMARY STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES: The Senior Event Operations Manager leads the operational functions for an SME event portfolio or series. Performs appropriate event venue and service providers research, capabilities assessment and submits recommendations. Acts as the operational / primary (day-to-day) contact for selected venues and major vendor partners. Develops and actively monitors event portfolio budgets. Plays a leading role for onsite event execution plans, including managing event provider/vendor service delivery. Continually works on behalf of all stakeholders to develop and execute Customer First initiatives. MAJOR FUNCTIONS: Research potential vendors, prepare RFQs and contribute input in the negotiation and selection process for these services. Collaborate on facility agreements and certain multi-event vendor agreements as assigned. Communicate the event vision and the smallest details to your contracted vendors including but not limited to venues, general services contractors, A/V, security, first aid, transportation, IT providers, caterers, temp agencies and decorators to build every component of the event experience. Leads operational planning and executes on-site event registration and related processes, including vendor interface, pre-show, on-site and post-show activities. Directs events with complex programming, association, partner, and operational requirements. Plans and implements programs that deliver the highest customer service level while setting industry-leading quality standards. Provides oversight for creation of floor plan layouts and traffic flows in accordance to Fire Marshal regulations and obtains required approvals. Develops, documents, and executes a set of standard operating procedures designed to personalize customer service, improve efficiency, reduce costs, and facilitate communication. Creates and manages event operations budgets, tracks spending, identifies areas of cost savings, and provides monthly forecasts. Identifies and reports on any significant changes to senior management. Develops, documents, and executes production schedules that include timelines, benchmarks, and allocation resources. Other duties as assigned. Requirements MINIMUM EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, hospitality management, or business preferred 8 years’ experience in trade show or event management High degree of attention to detail, time management, and intrapersonal skills Strong verbal and written communication skills required Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office applications, databases and floor-plan design software preferred Strong customer service and problem-solving skills WORKING CONDITIONS: Normal office environment Regular, in-person attendance required Primary office location: Southfield, MI Travel required (25%-50%) Exposure to hazards from forklift trucks, fumes, etc. in exhibit halls Summary POSITION TITLE: Senior Event Operations Manager GROUP: Events FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Exempt SME is an Equal Opportunity Employer #J-18808-Ljbffr
