As a key player in our organization, the Pharmacist in Charge is responsible for managing the selection and application of pharmaceuticals while supporting essential clinical initiatives such as formulary management and M-Care. Your Contributions:

  • Prepare and compound a variety of medications, including but not limited to topical creams, oral and liquid medications, injectables, and transdermal patches.
  • Oversee Medicaid formulary management processes.
  • Facilitate clear communication regarding pharmacotherapy issues.
  • Engage with members to identify and resolve barriers to medication adherence.
  • Manage notifications regarding formulary changes to members, stakeholders, and providers.
  • Ensure precise formulary setup and claims processing.
  • Participate in initiatives aimed at enhancing clinical and operational processes for adherence programs.
  • Develop, implement, and refresh educational resources for healthcare providers and patients.
  • Serve as a clinical pharmacy resource for pharmacy benefit management.

Key Responsibilities:

Medication Preparation: Accurately prepare and compound medications in various forms according to physician prescriptions and patient requirements.

Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to federal and state regulations, including proper record-keeping and management of controlled substances.

Team Leadership: Supervise pharmacy staff, including scheduling, training, and competency assurance.

  • Operational Management: Oversee daily pharmacy operations, including inventory control and supply ordering.
  • Patient Care: Provide pharmaceutical care and counseling to promote patient safety and optimal medication use.
  • Quality Control: Implement quality assurance measures to guarantee accuracy and safety in medication dispensing.
  • Effective Communication: Maintain strong communication with healthcare providers, patients, and stakeholders.
  • Financial Oversight: Manage financial aspects of the pharmacy, including billing and insurance claims.

Continuous Improvement: Develop strategies to enhance pharmacy operations and patient care.

  • Emergency Preparedness: Create plans for managing emergencies that may impact pharmacy operations.

Ethical Practices: Uphold ethical standards in pharmacy practice and ensure patient confidentiality.

Documentation: Maintain comprehensive records of pharmacy operations and compliance with regulations.

Staff Development: Provide training opportunities to support the professional growth of pharmacy staff.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or Doctorate in Pharmacy.
  • Current unrestricted Pharmacy License, including MI Pharmacy License.
  • 2-5 years of experience in managed care pharmacy (PBM) or equivalent residency experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PharmD required.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, facilitation, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to interpret professional literature, technical procedures, and regulations.
