The HR Assistant is a member of the Human Resources department, this position performs administrative tasks and services to support effective and efficient operations of the organization's corporate Human Resources and Safety departments.

Pay Range: $21.00 - $23.00/ hour

Core Responsibilities

  • Administrative Support: Provides administrative support to Human Resources and Safety departments as requested in the areas of recruiting, benefits administration, timekeeping, training, and compliance.
  • HR Information System (HRIS): Maintains HRIS database; ensures that updates are timely.
  • Reporting: Assists in the preparation of zero-hours reports and timecard audits.
  • Correspondence: Serves as the point of contact for the human resources department, answering emails and incoming telephone calls in a calm, courteous, and professional manner, and ensures messages are accurate and complete.
  • Recordkeeping : Maintains accurate and up-to-date recordkeeping, including physical personnel files, and maintaining HRIS database changes in employment. Also ensures proper tension of records for internal employees, retaining and archiving personnel files, employment applications, and other pertinent employee records in compliance with legal guidelines.
  • Verification of Employment: Respond to employee relations correspondence such as EDD claims and employee and employment verifications.
  • Employee Recognition : Promotes a fun and engaging employee environment. Helps to plan and coordinate employee recognition events, including but not limited to employee picnics, holiday events, retirement celebrations, coordinating arrangements, sending cards/gifts, etc.
  • Additional support: Supports front desk activities and provides backup coverage to reception.
  • Performs other duties as reasonably assigned.

  • Bilingual - English/Spanish preferred
Education and/or Experience:
  • High school or equivalent. Completion of two (2) years of college preferred.
  • One to two years of experience in human resources preferred
