Responsibilities:

Team Select Home Care is looking for a Leave Administrator to join our Team Select family. The Leave Administrator will oversee and administer leave requests and accommodations requiring specialized attention, particularly those under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Americans with Disability Act (ADA), state and local leave laws, workers compensation, and short-term and long-term disability plans. This role will report directly to the Benefits Manager.

  • Provides support and assistance to employees and managers, for all leave related and workers compensation questions in a high-volume environment.
  • Administers the workers compensation process from initial reporting, ensuring timely and appropriate communication with injured employees, supervisors, and workers compensation carrier.
  • Facilitates accommodation requests under the ADA.
  • Manages intermittent, continuous and employee specific disability absences.
  • Maintains knowledge of all applicable leave and accommodation laws including the FMLA, ADA, and state specific leave laws.
  • Communicates disability and leave approvals, denials, extensions, recertifications, and return to work plans to managers and employees.
  • Manages the leave process from the employees initial notice to the return to work. This includes ensuring the employee understands their responsibilities, gathering and completing all required documentation, determining leave eligibility, designating leave as FMLA-qualifying, requesting medical certification as needed, and accounting for intermittent and reduced schedule leave.
  • Accurately processes certifications for Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) requests, in accordance with Department of Labor (DOL) regulations and policies.
  • Determines the duration of FMLA and state specific leaves based on the information given by the healthcare provider.
  • Preserves confidentiality of employee documentation.
  • Drafts and/or recommends revisions to company leave policies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Collaborates with HR, workers compensation carrier, and other stakeholders to implement best practices and innovative solutions.
  • Performs all other duties and/or projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Extensive knowledge of the leave requirements and other legal protections afforded by the FMLA, ADA, and other applicable laws.
  • Multi-state, including California, leave administration experience required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Workday.
  • Knowledge of basic HR policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of state and federal regulations as they apply to FMLA.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
