We are looking for a highly motivated Principal Category Analyst to support the Perishables business to join the Category, Assortment, and Space Analytics team. In this role, you will be responsible for leading data-driven strategic recommendations for the Perishables Merch Leadership team to help influence their current and future looking strategy. This includes but is not limited to: leading quarterly analytics reviews and providing strategic direction, partnering with finance to support financial goal setting, and supporting business-critical Ad-hoc questions from executive leadership.

This role will work across other analytics teams to provide an integrated point of view of business, customer, assortment and price & promotions performance, while leveraging internal and external sources. This position will act as a conduit to integrate strategic insights, generate hypotheses. Act as single-point-of-contact for analytics partners (Pricing, Promotion, Consumer Insights). Understand and activate business impact levers (promotions, price, product, customer, etc....) along with leveraging 3rd party competitive landscape tools, customer behavior metrics, and data science models. Lead collaboration with business partners, including 3rd parties, to identify gaps in analytical processes and reporting; problem solve with various other teams to fill gaps influence decision making throughout the business, which often requires collaboration with cross-functional teams and senior leadership. Effectively synthesize and communicate complex data and analyses via effective written documents and presentations.

*Please note: this role is based at our HQ in Austin, Texas. Relocation assistance provided.

Responsibilities:
  • Effectively translate complex data and analyses to Executive Leadership to generate business insights, set strategic direction, and provide recommendations that drive action.
  • Lead Quarterly Analytics reviews by working through complex and ambiguous business questions from leadership. Ability to organize initiatives for knowledge sharing across teams and act as a product manager to meet key project deadlines and tell a cohesive story.
  • Proven ability to utilize advanced analytical methods to identify patterns, relationships, and trends across multiple data sources.
  • Synthesizes complex data from various sources to construct a narrative which can be understood by a broad audience. Passion for developing simple visualizations that lead to clear insights for various levels of stakeholder groups.
  • Partner with Category Analytics Senior Team Leader and analysts to connect Quarterly Analytics Reviews to Category Insights; and to communicate key Perishables strategies and insights to the analyst team; which may also involve indirect coaching & mentoring on related projects.

Education & Experience:
  • BA/BS degree and 6-8 relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Finance, Analytical Business Specialty, Marketing Research or retail experience preferred
