San Francisco, United States Forward Full time

Forward is on a bold mission to make high quality healthcare available to a billion people across the globe. We're building the world's most advanced healthcare platform from the ground up, combining hardware, software and doctors under one roof.

As our business grows, we are looking to contract with world-class techs to help us develop, launch, and maintain cutting edge technology like the CarePod. The ideal Field Services Tech is someone who can independently manage complex tasks and problem-solve in an innovative, tech-first environment. This is a short-term contract opportunity, with an expected duration of 6-12 months.

What you'll do

    • Assemble and install Forward technology (like the CarePod™) at a new location: structures, low voltage wiring, controllers and IT equipment, electromechanical components/appliances, finished surfaces, and furniture.
    • Test components to verify that they meet their specifications or other QC requirements.
    • Repair/replace broken hardware or conduct preventative maintenance at an active site. Follow documentation, diagnose, and creatively solve issues to get units back to fully functional. Partner with engineers to solve issues we haven't seen before.
    • Document issues and fixes, and write document revisions to improve install and repair efficiency.
    • Follow all company procedures and safety policies. Contribute to improved workplace safety.
    • Work cohesively and seamlessly with coworkers to accomplish the objectives above with high quality and consistency.
    • We will provide project scope and instructions, but you need to provide your own tools and manage your time to meet the project objectives in designated time. You will be responsible for purchasing needed tools you don't currently have.
What we're looking for:
    • You have experience performing on-site maintenance and you know your way around a construction site (safety best practices, communication best practices, etc.)
    • You have excellent handyman, power tool and hand tool skills: drill, multitool, house paint and touch up, debugging appliances, etc. Bonus points if you have low voltage experience: low voltage wiring, installing devices (IT, AV, LED lighting, microcontrollers/PCBs), debugging devices, soldering, etc.
    • You have experience creatively solving mechanical and low voltage problems in the field: attachment issues, physical interferences, wiring issues, etc.
    • You have worked with different materials (metal, plastic, composites, wood, etc.) and manufacturing techniques (machining, molding, thermoforming, bending, secondary finishes, etc.).
    • You are available to work flexible shifts, including evenings and weekends.
    • You are available to travel as needed to perform services: 1) More than 75% of our sites are outside of the San Francisco Bay Area (our headquarters), so travel will be required. 2) Most service trips are planned 2-3 weeks in advance. Some trips require flexibility given other dependencies like procurement and shipping. 3) Forward will reimburse travel-related costs associated with the contractor's services, according to company policies and guidelines.
    • You can lift 50-75 pounds in order to move large parts.
    • You are an excellent communicator.
    • You can read, write, and use a computer to revise documents.
    • You have a valid driver's license and clean driving record. Bonus points if you have a forklift certification.
    • You have a record for safe work, and you follow all company procedures and safety policies.
    • You may be asked to provide Forward with copies of your business incorporation documents and/or insurance coverage.
