Responsibilities:

The Pharmacy Tech IV provides support to the pharmacist by performing supervised functions of preparation and delivery of pharmaceutical services and other duties of a technical nature not requiring professional oversight; the Pharmacy Technician IV will locate, dispense, pack, and label medications that are then reviewed for accuracy by a pharmacist before being dispensed to a patient or automated dispensing cabinet; receive and stock incoming pharmaceutical supplies and medications; ability to create intravenous infusions in a clean room setting using aseptic technique; use written and oral communication skills daily to communicate with hospital staff; utilizes a computer to access the Hospital Information System; maintain and operate required pharmacy equipment; report broken or malfunctioning equipment; maintain current and adequate medication and supplies around the hospital as needed; utilizes proper body mechanics by lifting heavy equipment and medical supplies of 50lbs or more; restocks all work areas as necessary; abide by and enforce all compliance requirements and policies and performs these responsibilities in an ethical manner consistent with the organizations values; adheres to organizations policies including confidentiality (HIPPA); adheres to department and organizations policies on dress code; utilizes aseptic technique to compound sterile medications with the ability to calculate and measure doses; consistency in punctuality, attendance, and performance; maintain license and PTCB/NHA certifications; maintain a professional and cooperative attitude; prepare restocks for delivery to automated dispensing cabinets and have them checked by the pharmacist; receive narcotic orders daily; ensure new products are scanned into Cerner and Omnicell, placing IT NDC stacking requests as needed; manage inventory of narcotics, including usage and par levels, returning, repackaging, expiring, and reordering needs; communicate with auditors and resolve discrepancies as needed; assist with other pharmacy duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent, current registry with the Alabama State Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician, IV trained, and certified as a Pharmacy Technician with the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board. Two years of Pharmacy Technician experience is highly preferred.
