**Description**

**PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES**

* Manage all aspects of the procurement of raw materials, packaging, MRO and associated services to include competitive bidding, analysis, source selection, purchase order creation, and supplier management.

* Analyze global market developments for key commodities and develop strategic plans to mitigate adverse effects and take advantage of positive developments.

* Perform gatekeeping functions consistent with requisition and purchasing authorization requirements.

* Coordinate with Operations on ERP driven requirements to ensure material availability, price/cost visibility and assure compliance with inventory guidelines.

* Coordinate with internal customers on the sourcing and purchase of non-ERP requirements to assure best value for Quanex while meeting customer needs.

* Negotiate and maintain all terms and agreements with suppliers while adhering to Quanex and SOX guidelines.

* Source materials in coordination with requesters to achieve best value through pricing, quality, functionality and lead time.

* Manage on-time deliveries from suppliers and maintain/distribute sourcing metrics.

* Verify and authorize invoices for payment.

* Continuously prioritize activities and exercise independent judgment and discretion with minimal supervision.

* Actively participate in Lean Six Sigma activities.
