Director of Neighborhood Housing Development Job Type: Executive Director Positions Organization: Mayor's Office of Housing - City of Boston Overview: The mission of the Mayor's Office of Housing's (MOH) is to make Boston a more equitable and inclusive city where all residents can thrive. The Mayor's Office of Housing seeks to carry out its mission through a lens of promoting diversity, equity and inclusion and addressing the effects of systemic racism in our city. Within the Mayor’s Office of Housing (MOH), under the supervision of the Chief of Staff or designee, the Director for the Neighborhood Housing Development Division is the City’s leader for financing, preserving and creating affordable housing. To be effective in this role, the Deputy Director must be both a community development expert and a housing policy advocate. The division oversees a multi-million dollar housing creation budget of local and federal sources that is used to leverage investments in housing developments that top a hundred million dollars annually. This role is an exciting opportunity for a passionate leader to dramatically impact the lives of people in Boston. It is challenging work that requires strong project management skills, the ability to collaborate with a wide array of community stakeholders, and a strong underpinning of real estate development finance. If successful, the Director will lead the creation of housing policies, programs and development projects at a level that continues to position Boston as a national leader in community development. Responsibilities: Manages a staff of housing development officers, project managers, architects and construction specialists and administrative personnel. Develops and implements housing development policies. Coordinates with other City departments, State and Federal agencies, as necessary. Manages community processes and consults with other stakeholders in accomplishing projects. Serves as a spokesperson for the City on issues of housing affordability and community development. Participate in various cross divisional issues as established by the Director. Perform special projects, initiatives and other duties as assigned to fulfill the functions of the position. Performs related duties as required. Minimum Entrance Qualifications: At least five (5) years of related work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree, or seven (7) years of related work experience without a Bachelor’s Degree, required, with at least three (3) years of supervisory experience required. Degree in Community Planning, Development, Public Policy, Public Administration, Government, Business Administration or other related field preferred. Proven record of achievement in local real estate, housing or community development with leadership and management skills to oversee staff and projects. Financial acumen to manage complex financing, including those from multiple public funding sources, for development projects as well as familiarity with financial reporting and audits. Excellent organizational, problem solving and communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft and Google Suite applications. Appropriate educational substitutions may be made. Ability to exercise good judgment and focus on detail as required by the job. #J-18808-Ljbffr
