DIRECTOR OF LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT

Overview:

The Director of Learning and Development collaborates with our Executive Team and subject matter experts in a fully integrated learning organization by developing, aligning, and delivering organizational development and training activities to meet business goals. This involves designing, developing, and delivering effective training programs for sales and operations both in groups and one-on-one for all roles at the Bank. This position presents in both live and alternative classroom environments and supports a sustainable training framework. This position provides internal consulting in training, organizational development, and incentive plans to departments, facilitates change management methodologies, and works with management to assess training and development needs consistent with the organizations strategy and vision.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop learning materials using adult learning and instructional design theories
  • Develop a training calendar to meet training needs, prioritize training program needs, and maintain training attendance and participation records, including coordination with Compliance function to include all required regulatory compliance training
  • Comply fully and timely with all regulatory and compliance requirements as they apply to the position
  • Collaborate with BankSouth Mortgage Training & Development Manager and BankSouth Human Resources to align corporate resources
  • Oversee, recommend, and coordinate assignment of learning opportunities from outside/online online learning sites (ABA, CBA, etc.)
  • Oversee the administration of the OnCourse Learning Management System (LMS) and deliver, track & report on training completion to management
  • Maintain, develop, and organize current and accurate training material, deliverables, manuals, job aides, quizzes and class evaluations for classroom and continuing education instruction
  • Facilitate trainingrelated external vendors; facilitate soft-skill and sales training programs; manage, mentor and coach other learning and development staff as needed
  • Develop, write, and maintain the library of the Bankss policies and procedures
  • Receive feedback on specific areas of focus so that training can be conducted for process improvement
  • Assist in the development of career paths and training to support employees through their development
  • Work with peers to develop and write new product training materials using proven instructional design techniques
  • Assist with changes/rollouts associated with compliance requirements, new products, new procedures, and new technology systems
  • Develop and collaborate with an internal network of subject matter experts (SMEs) to fulfill all training needs
  • Interact and engage audience with questions and handson practice
  • Develop alternative ways to inform and educate employees using written, computerbased training (CBT), instructor led training (ILT) and on-the-job training (OJT)
  • Design effective and creative new hire and continued education training for all levels of the Bank
  • Deploy surveys to measure class experience/perception and collect feedback for improvements
  • Administer tests/quizzes to measure participants retention of class material
Key Results Areas:
  • Successfully develops all project trainings within appropriate timeframes
  • Successfully designs and develops effective learning events for projects, new hire trainings, and employee development
  • Successfully oversees the deployment of all training and their successful completion
  • Assesses and adjusts training to meet the needs of the learner and outcome
  • Partners and works with other employees and vendors with a professional manner while ensuring that learner needs are met
Qualifications

Experience & Education:

Experience & Education:

Five to ten years of similar or related experience in a banking or credit union environment, including time in preparatory positions. A bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Adult Learning, or Organizational Development is required. Video and online training development experience is required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Ability to travel to various Bank locations
  • Advanced understanding of learning theory such as andragogy and Gagnes model
  • Advanced understanding of instructional design theory including ADDIE
  • Advanced expertise in development software including Storyline 360, Camtasia, and InDesign
  • Ability to perform a needs analysis to determine training needs, audience, and appropriate deliverables
  • Ability to adapt to different learning needs and ensure that the training meets the required objectives
  • Ability to work with managers and employees to determine current and future training needs
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and prioritize for completion


Other Requirements:

Satisfactorily complete all required compliance training and compliance with all laws and regulations that apply based on the scope of this position.

Interpersonal Skills:

Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization, generally regarding routine matters for purposes of giving and obtaining information, as well as advising or referring, which commonly require shorter discussions.

Physical Requirements:

Perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs. Must be capable of climbing/descending stairs in an emergency. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including telephone, copier, facsimile, and calculator. Must be able to routinely perform work on a computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable, and timely attendance.

Working Conditions:

Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work environment with moderate noise.

Mental and/or Emotional Requirements:

Must be able to perform job functions independently and with limited supervision. Must work effectively as part of a team. Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions. Must be able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence. Must be able to perform basic financial calculations with accuracy. Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public. Must be able to perform responsibilities with composure under stress of deadline, requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace. Must be capable of exercising highest level of discretion on confidential matters.
