Overview:
Responsible for the day-to-day supervision of assigned staff and accounting and payroll activities and ensures the completion of month-end general ledger closings and controls, account reconciliations and financial statement preparation within agreed upon timelines. Oversees the receipt and analysis of receivables and accounts payable and journal entries. Follows GAAP and established policies and procedures to maintain integrity of general ledger and financial statements. Responsible for daily, weekly and monthly sales and labor reporting and other financial reporting within agreed upon timelines.
Responsibilities:ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Direct and manage the activities and review progress of the Accounting Department staff. This includes hiring, directing, training, and evaluating the staff.
- Set team goals, organize the workflow of the department and monitor staff productivity; provide training, cross training and constructive feedback and coaching
- Review and interface all subsystems to ledger including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll. Ensure the accuracy and compliance with the established rules and principles of general accounting.
- Oversee general accounting systems for use by management in controlling expenditures and insuring compliance.
- Oversee the processing of weekly payroll, ensuring that payroll is processed accurately within required deadlines and that all related reporting requirements are met.
- Develop and implement solutions to a variety of problems requiring use and application of accounting concepts, practices and techniques.
- Prepare and/or review account work papers, financial documents and other materials in preparation for annual financial statement audits.
- Assist in the production of the Company's monthly stand alone financial statements and reports and the annual Budget
- Assist the Controller with the budget preparation, prepare daily revenue budgets and maintain budgets in the general ledger. Assist managers with budget issues as needed.
- Perform various financial and analytical projects as requested.
- Prepare/review reports for submission to the Senior Management Team.
- Remain current on financial issues and trends related to accounting and Loon Mountain.
- Perform other related duties as required.
RESPONSIBILITIES TO SAFETY:
- Protect the safety of self, co-workers, and guests at all times.
- Report any potentially harmful equipment or situations to the immediate supervisor without delay.
- Report safety-related accidents and incidents at once to immediate supervisor.
- Follow all company and department safety policies and procedures.
- Operate equipment in a safe manner that will not lead to injury of yourself or others.
- Drive in accordance with the law and Loon Mountain Recreation Corp. policies.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manager responsibilities for the General Accountant, Accounts Payable, Payroll, and Cash Room staff, including hiring, training and performance evaluation.
Qualifications:QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
- Knowledge of financial management practices within the resort industry.
- Knowledge of personal computer applications and equipment.
- Must be adept at Excel and other Microsoft office applications.
- Organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a professional and confidential capacity.
- Leadership ability to guide, direct and mentor staff and work effectively as a team member
- Work requires a dedicated team player with the willingness and desire to learn and grow within the organization.
- Attention to details.
- Must be able to maintain strict protocols of all confidential or sensitive information.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative and handle multiple priorities in a fast paced environment.
- Education and/or training equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration.
- Five to seven years of experience in accounting or related
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Solid knowledge of English
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Strong analytical skills necessary
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to review reports and spreadsheets. Strong bookkeeping skills. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret procedural guidelines, write correspondence, and to speak effectively.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Able to sit or stand for long periods of time.
