About this position This position is responsible for leading the development and implementation of the organization’s professional growth program, which will guide current and potential employees toward advancement within the organization. What you’ll be doing Working in tandem with the professional growth associate to identify professional development goals for new hires and current staff; Acquiring a working knowledge of all staff position requirements and duties; Developing and maintaining a referral database of colleges and universities in Southern California (including online colleges) that offer degrees in child development and social services; Assisting with the review, interpretation, and recordkeeping of college transcripts to offer guidance on educational goals that would allow applicants to be considered for employment or current staff to become eligible for advancement; Meeting individually with interested current staff (in-person, virtually, or via phone) to identify and evaluate growth opportunities; Communicating with potential applicants to discuss educational qualifications for future employment; Coordinating and conducting growth opportunity workshops, including creating, developing, and revising workshop materials; Maintaining current information on Head Start and state laws and regulations concerning staff qualifications; Communicating with management to gather specific performance-related information on employees who have been identified as candidates for advancement opportunities and to solicit cooperation and assistance in their successful placement; Researching, analyzing, and interpreting organization trends, as well as market data, to identify employee needs and organization competitiveness within our field and to strategize to ensure the success of our program; Assisting employees with eligibility for salary increases and processing salary increases in employee HRIS records; Reading and implementing organization and program policies and procedures; Accurately completing all assigned paperwork and documentation on a timely basis according to organization policies and procedures; Actively participating in staff meetings and annual in-service; Attending trainings as required; Performing other duties as assigned. What you bring to the table Bachelor’s degree in related field of study, as deemed applicable by the organization, which has prepared incumbent for the duties and responsibilities of this position; years of experience may be substituted for degree requirement; Education beyond the bachelor’s degree in a related field (preferred); Strong knowledge base regarding the Commission on Teaching Credentialing (CTC) and the Child Development Training Consortium (CDTC), the Early Care and Education Workforce Registry, and other early childhood education-based platforms; Three years of increasingly responsible experience related to the creation and implementation of professional development programs; Professional growth advisor certification (preferred); Demonstrated proficiency with Windows-based programs and data entry; Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to honor confidaentiality and work supportively with participating families; Flexibility, maturity of judgment, and ability to work in a team environment; Strong organizational skills and the ability to complete projects with multiple deadlines; Ability to build and maintain cooperative, diplomatic working relationships with colleagues, supervisors, and the public; Ability to maintain all assigned workflows and a high level of customer satisfaction in a fast-paced working environment; Experience working for nonprofit and/or early learning organizations (preferred); California driver’s license, daily use of an automobile, and current automobile liability insurance; Experience with Paylocity HR/Payroll systems (preferred).
