Behavior Specialist

Amergis is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Behavior Technician to join our team. As a Behavior Technician, you will play a vital role in facilitating educational and behavioral services with children and adults with special needs.
Key Responsibilities- Collaboration and Teamwork: Work closely with school professionals, behavioral specialists, and other team members to achieve learning and behavioral goals and objectives.
- Behavior Management: Implement behavior management techniques, including prevention, intervention, and consequence strategies, to support students with special needs.
- Crisis Intervention: Provide crisis intervention services to students in need, ensuring their safety and well-being.
- Behavior Intervention Plans: Review and implement behavior intervention plans, working closely with instructors and other team members to ensure effective implementation.
- Academic Support: Assist in facilitating academic instruction, supporting students in achieving their academic goals.
- SLP, OT, and PT Support: Assist in facilitating SLP, OT, and PT development plans, ensuring students receive comprehensive support.
- Documentation and Data Collection: Accurately and efficiently document session data, collecting behavioral and academic data to inform instruction and support.
- Confidentiality and Professionalism: Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional standards of practice, ensuring the highest level of professionalism in all interactions.
- Independent Living Skills: Assist students in developing independent daily living skills, including self-care activities such as toileting, clothing routines, and personal hygiene.
- Environmental Support: Support students across various environments, including the classroom, playground, lunch room, gym, sensory room, and library.
- Education: High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience: Two years of pediatric experience preferred.
- Professional Standards: Comply with all relevant professional standards of practice.
- Training and Certification: Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicable.
- Health and Safety: Current CPR certification if applicable, TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable, and current health certificate (per contract or state regulation).
- Age and Eligibility: Must be at least 18 years of age and meet all federal, state, and local requirements.
- Communication and Computer Skills: Ability to effectively elicit and provide information to and from appropriate individuals, including supervisors, coworkers, and clients, via strong communication skills and proficiency in the English language.
- Computer Proficiency: Computer proficiency required.
