**The Procurement-Buyer II** takes ownership of tactical purchasing activities for direct and indirect materials and services, preparing and processing requisitions and purchase orders, negotiating favorable terms and volume discounts with suppliers, tracking orders to delivery, and resolving payment discrepancies. Helps Procurement team reduce supply chain risk, drive ongoing supplier optimization and continuous improvement, and manage procurement activities for projects and new product development including development of requirements documents and design specifications.

This position belongs to Microbiology Operating Company nested within Beckman Coulter and is located in West Sacramento, CA. At Microbiology as one of the worlds leading ID/AST companies, our vision is to ensure that every patient has access to the right antibiotic treatment at the right time. You will be an integral part of the Global Marketing team and report to the Materials Manager for Microbiology.

**In this role, you will have the opportunity to:**

* Analyze material requirements & inventory positions; optimize inventory levels

* Manage purchase orders & create favorable supply agreements to support quality, delivery, and cost goals

* Collaborate with Supply Planning, Manufacturing, and Strategic Sourcing team members to meet delivery, inventory, and productivity goals

* Work with suppliers and internal engineering teams to increase favorable purchase price variance.

* Learn the Danaher Business System tools and use them to drive operational excellence.

**The essential requirements of the job include:**

* Bachelors degree in field with 2+ years experience in contract management OR Masters degree in field

* Ability to travel (domestic and internationally) 5-10%, once travel restrictions are lifted

* Experience coordinating changes with suppliers and resolving order and invoice discrepancies

* Experience with ERP procurement systems, Oracle preferred

**It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:**

* Packaging, chemical, and/or plastics commodities markets

* Procurement associated with a regulated environment (e.g., Healthcare)

* APICS or ISM certification
