Job Description NAU's College of Engineering, Informatics, and Applied Sciences is recruiting for a Financial Oversight Analyst, Senior to join their dynamic team. This position analyzes operational data with the purpose of looking for improvements to the financial status of the college. The Financial Oversight Analyst, Senior will maintain an understanding of college finances, budgets, grants, and department goals. This position determines the cost of departmental operations to ensure compliance with budgetary goals and expectations. Responsibilities Oversees the analysis of operational data to improve the financial status of the college. Maintains an understanding of college finances using provided tools. Provides accurate and timely budget information to key stakeholders for various funding sources, including grant management. Determines the cost of complex college operations to ensure compliance with budgetary goals and expectations. Demonstrates expert knowledge of concepts and practices; may be seen as a specialist within the unit. Makes recommendations on new procedures, policies, and tools to address complex issues. Operates independently with occasional supervision and performs tasks autonomously. Works with student clubs on balances of donated funds through the foundation. Analysis Support - 40% Performs research and analysis to provide stakeholders with financial data and recommendations. Produces and presents reports and communications for key stakeholders with recommendations for change or improvements. Compares actual financial data to plans, forecasts, and budgets, evaluating areas of divergence. Assists in the assessment of new programs by comparing results with original proposals. Compliance Support - 5% Interprets, applies, and remains informed of pertinent rules, regulations, policies, and procedures set forth by the University or outside governing agencies. Ensures all purchases within the area of oversight are compliant. Communicates policy and process changes to faculty and staff. Administrative Support - 5% Advises and trains administrative and financial student staff on financial-related matters, such as proper use of positions and funding sources. Coordinates with departmental administrative assistants for onboarding and offboarding of various positions. Acts as the liaison to various departments across campus. Other - 5% Other duties as assigned. Supervision of financial student workers. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field. 3-5 years of accounting or finance experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis. Preferred Qualifications Finance experience in higher education. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Knowledge: Advanced knowledge of financial oversight and operations tools, procedures, processes, policies, and concepts. Knowledge of financial reporting in higher education and university budgeting practices. Knowledge of Grant Management, grant uniform guidance, and grant cost share principles. Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Skill in financial modeling and forecasting. Abilities: Prepares detailed reports on a timely basis. Analyzes complex situations and anticipates issues. Balances competing priorities. Demonstrates problem-solving, organizational, and analytical capabilities. Promotes a diverse, inclusive environment. Additional Information This position has been identified as a safety/security sensitive position. Therefore, per AZ Revised Statute, Northern Arizona University requires satisfactory results for the following: a criminal background investigation, employment history investigation, degree verification (in some cases), and fingerprinting. Anticipated salary range is $54,779 to $66,950. Annual salary commensurate with candidate's qualifications and related experience. FLSA Status: Exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). This is a Classified Staff (CLS) position.
