Position Overview:

As a Sr. Staff Accountant, you will report directly to the Controller and play a crucial role in our financial operations. Your responsibilities will include handling day-to-day financial reporting, payroll, and freight management processes. This is a hands-on role that requires accuracy, attention to detail, and a strong ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Financial Reconciliation: Accurately reconcile all general ledger accounts on a monthly basis, ensuring all supporting schedules and subledgers are up to date.
  • Journal Entries & Close Processes: Prepare journal entries, conduct analyses, and assist with the monthly close processes to ensure timely financial reporting.
  • Reporting: Prepare and distribute financial statements, sales reports, MPR Financial Summary, PDA Rebates, and other analytical reports as requested by management.
  • Payroll Management: Calculate pay and deductions, process payroll for employees, and maintain payroll records with precision.
  • Freight Management: Oversee small package freight management, resolving any questionable charges with carriers, and filing freight claims as necessary.
  • Compliance & Auditing: Prepare 1099s, NAFTA certificates, and business review data. Serve as the company's assigned ISO Internal Auditor to ensure compliance.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Backup Support: Provide backup for A/R, A/P, and daily LTL freight audit and posting processes when needed.
  • Special Projects: Take on special projects and other duties as assigned by Senior Management.
What We're Looking For:
  • Education: Associate degree in accounting or a related business field.
  • Experience: At least 5 years of accounting experience, with a proven track record of handling financial reconciliations, payroll, and reporting.
  • Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent analytical and organizational abilities, and a keen attention to detail. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, is essential.
  • Detail-Oriented: A focus on accuracy and goal achievement, ensuring financial processes are completed to the highest standard.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Communication: Ability to interact effectively across various levels and departments within the organization.
  • Industry Experience: Previous experience in a wholesale distribution environment is a plus.
  • Technical Proficiency: Experience with EPICOR ERP or other large, automated accounting systems will be advantageous.
