Subrogation/ Salvage Claims Adjuster

Summary: Evaluate, negotiate and settle all total loss claims for vehicles and heavy equipment. Move and process salvage for recovery of salvage proceeds. Handle all subrogation for recovery of claims and deductibles. Review closed files for subrogation and deductible interests on a monthly basis.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties assigned as needed.
Losses
- Process total loss claims resulting from collision or comprehensive claims including but not limited to theft of vehicles and contractor equipment.
- Evaluate total loss claims utilizing fair and reasonable comparables to reach a fair market value.
- Attempt to reach settlement within 24 hours to expedite salvage handling to mitigate storage fees and loss of exposure.
- Track total salvage losses log and updated management monthly.
- Submit risk reports to Underwriting for total loss of vehicles and equipment.
- Receive transfer files for handling of subrogation.
- Review file for subrogation interests and pursue responsible party for recovery.
- Prepare contentions and support for filing of Inter-company Arbitration when settlement is not reached.
- Forward subrogation files to collections if necessary and monitor activity in claims notes.
- Receive transfer files for recovery of deductibles, verify deductible applicable to loss.
- Attempt recovery of deductibles, notify underwriting by submission of risk report if recovery is not successful.
- Handle overflow claims, investigate claims and interpret coverage for multiple lines of coverage in multiple state jurisdictions.
- Assess and negotiate claims by gathering information to determine the exposure on the claim.
- Negotiate the settlement of 1st and 3rd party claims with insured, claimants and attorneys.
- Pays claimant amount due according to settlement agreement and company procedures.
- Identify subrogation and deductible recoveries to refer to subrogation unit.
- Handle all claim files according to company procedure.
- Contact insured & claimants by telephone within 24 hrs of receipt of claim.
- Diary system to review claims every 30 days.
- Maintain adjuster license in assigned territories.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; or 3-5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge/Skills
- Detailed oriented with the ability to work in a team environment and be flexible to daily changing needs and job duties.
- Ability to analyze and problem solve, working closely with others to coordinate and complete projects.
- Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Computer Skills
Advanced Microsoft Office Skills
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Adjuster License required in states of operation.
