In this capacity, the Senior Liability Claims Specialist will engage in a comprehensive approach to managing Casualty claims within a collaborative team setting that prioritizes excellence in claims processing. Key responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing and adjusting general casualty claims related to primary, umbrella, and excess policies while maintaining superior customer service and high-quality claim file management.
  • Proactively managing claims from initial notification through to resolution, providing guidance to internal stakeholders and engaging with clients and brokers.
  • Collaborating with insured parties, brokers, and third-party administrators to effectively handle and adjudicate claims.
  • Analyzing and drafting coverage communications as necessary, articulating coverage positions clearly.
  • Conducting and coordinating investigations to ensure timely claims resolution.
  • Monitoring assignments to experts and defense counsel closely as required.
  • Evaluating coverage, liability, and damages to assess exposure levels for both the insured and the company.
  • Preparing reports, setting reserves within authorized limits, and making recommendations regarding reserve adjustments.
  • Traveling for conferences, mediations, and trials as needed.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • A high level of specialized knowledge and technical skill in claims management.
  • At least 5 years of experience in handling casualty or professional liability claims, or equivalent experience.
  • A college degree or equivalent experience; a Juris Doctor (JD) is preferred.
  • Ability to work autonomously and assimilate information from diverse sources.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation abilities.
  • Capacity to collaborate effectively within a team environment while managing multiple priorities.
  • Experience in claims handling across various jurisdictions and a willingness to obtain necessary licenses.
