Job Summary

The Commercial Auto Claims Adjuster is a key role within AmTrust Financial Services, responsible for examining, investigating, and settling or declining insurance claims in a prompt and efficient manner. This position requires effective research, negotiation, and interaction with insureds and claimants to ensure that company resources are utilized in a cost-effective manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Management: Maintain accurate financial accountabilities and control loss adjustment expenses.
  • Claim Handling: Handle moderate-to-high complexity commercial auto liability losses, including litigated claims, and make timely and appropriate contacts with interested parties.
  • Investigation and Analysis: Determine, review, and analyze coverages that may or may not apply to the claim, and plan, execute, and review investigations-coverage, liability, and/or damages.
  • Coverage and Liability: Discuss possible coverage issues with supervisor and draft coverage positions as applicable, and obtain medical records and reports, police and agency reports, photographs, and measurements.
  • Reserving and Expense Management: Establish indemnity and expense reserves as the claim transpires, and control and manage claims-related expenses.
  • Litigation and Defense: Work with and actively monitor and manage defense counsel, and minimize losses through identification of subrogation and prompt disposition.
  • Reporting and Communication: Determine and fulfill reporting requirements to supervisor/manager, Home Office, SIU, client companies, and reinsurers.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: 4+ years of claims handling experience.
